Refiner
Tap a star to rate
Refiner is customer feedback software for SaaS, fintech and marketplace teams, specializing in contextual in-app and mobile surveys. Its own pages describe the buyer as a product-led team: product managers, customer success and growth people who want to ask users a question inside the product and send the answer straight to the tools they already run. The home page frames the problem it solves as survey tools with "Contracts, slow onboarding, a buggy and ugly interface." The same product also reaches people outside the app with survey links and email surveys, so it covers the form-style side of survey work too.
What you build and how
You build a survey, then decide where it appears. The home page lays this out as steps. Step 1 is "Reach users where they are": launch surveys inside your web app, mobile app or email. For web apps, in-app surveys go in through JavaScript, Google Tag Manager or NPM. For mobile, Refiner offers native SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter, and the company says the result has "No third-party widget feel." Outside the product, the FAQ says surveys also run through hosted survey links and email surveys.
The navigation on its pages shows how the product is organized. Under building surveys it lists survey templates, customized surveys and on-brand design. Under reaching users it lists in-app surveys, mobile surveys, website surveys, email surveys, survey links and in-app messages. Under insights it lists a reporting dashboard, response tagging, AI insights and user segmentation. Under taking action it lists notifications and digests, plus integrations.
Targeting is where the product puts its effort. The FAQ says you can target users by traits, behavior, device, language or prior responses, then trigger surveys after events or delays so they appear at the right moment in the journey. One customer quote describes the practical setup: easy integration through Google Tag Manager, which let the team use data from its data layer and trigger surveys with GA events.
Data flow is the second theme. The company says responses can go to Slack or Microsoft Teams for alerts, to Zapier and Segment for data flows, and to your own systems through an API. A comparison page adds that Refiner has first-class Segment and RudderStack support and connects to Amplitude, Mixpanel and BigQuery, so feedback can be treated like any other product event. A customer quote on the page says that with Refiner every survey answer is directly logged into the team's database via Segment. For AI work, the home page offers an MCP server so you can "Analyze survey data in Claude or ChatGPT."
Setup is described as quick. The page says most teams go from signup to a live survey in a single session, and testimonials call the installation easy. One quote credits the Zapier integration for fitting Refiner into the team's own stack. Another, from Livestorm's head of growth, says the tool "can be used by nearly every team at Livestorm: growth and marketing, product, customer experience and support, and even sales."
The testimonials show how teams use it. One customer says Refiner "was the only in-app survey tool that met all our requirements" and that its focus on in-app surveys gives "a streamlined feature set that fits our needs perfectly." Another credits the Segment integration, saying Refiner is "the only solution we found that addresses data integrations as a main feature and not as an afterthought." A growth lead notes it fits a growth stack of Segment and Customer.io. The home page sorts the product by team, with separate pages for product teams, customer success, and marketing and growth, and it describes its design as "Good defaults. Advanced settings." It says it is built for teams "who don't have time to configure another tool."
The page does not describe a database you host surveys in, a page builder or a publishing flow beyond these channels. What you build is the survey, its targeting and its triggers, and what you get back is data that lands in your analytics and alerting tools.
What the pages state
Pricing: a comparison page says Refiner offers "Unlimited survey responses on every paid plan. Starts at $79/month." The site text names no individual plan tiers.
Trial: the FAQ says the free trial gives access to all survey features and integrations, stays active for 30 days and is capped at 100 survey responses. It adds that the company will extend the trial period free of charge if needed. A free trial is not a free plan, and no free plan is listed.
Security: the FAQ answers "Is Refiner secure and compliant?" with yes, saying Refiner "has a SOC 2 Type II audit and provides GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA information and support," with details on its legal and security pages.
Results: the FAQ cites a customer case study that reports a 57.7% response rate during beta, and adds "Results vary." Customers named on the page include Livestorm. The home page says "Hundreds of happy SaaS, Fintech, Edtech & Marketplaces are using Refiner," and it carries a link to reviews on G2. The comparison page describes the product as 100% focused on SaaS, fintech, edtech and digital product teams.
Support: the site links to Contact Support, Documentation and System Status. Its product menu lists In-app Microsurveys.
Who it suits and who it does not
Refiner suits a product team at a SaaS, fintech or marketplace company that wants in-app surveys with proper event targeting, especially one that already uses Segment or Google Tag Manager. It also suits mobile teams, since React Native and Flutter are named alongside iOS and Android. Teams that pay per response elsewhere may like the unlimited responses on paid plans, though the trial itself stops at 100.
It is less of a fit for a team that wants a general-purpose form builder or a public-facing survey with heavy page design, since the pages stress in-product delivery. The $79 a month starting price is a real consideration for a solo founder with a single survey, and no free plan is listed. Teams that sell mainly through e-commerce, or that need email-first survey programs, should note that Refiner states it is built around digital products.
