What webgo's Homepage-Baukasten is
The webgo Homepage-Baukasten, which means homepage builder, is a drag-and-drop website builder sold by webgo, a web host from Hamburg. The company's home page says that "Mit AI- & Shop-Funktion" you can build a professional homepage or even an online shop "ganz ohne Vorkenntnisse" (without any prior knowledge), and the product page promises a site "ohne Programmierkenntnisse" (without programming skills), with domain, mail and SSL included and new AI functions. The product menu calls it "Der Alleskönner" (the all-rounder).
It is written for German-speaking small businesses, shops, restaurants and individuals who want a site, a domain and an email address from one provider. The product pages are in German, and this entry translates what they say. The company says it has been in business since 2004 and describes itself as a Hamburg web host with a special focus on performance and customer satisfaction. Around the builder it sells NVMe, SSD and HDD web hosting, CMS hosting, managed vServers, dedicated servers, SSL certificates, domains and online marketing services; those are separate products.
What you build and how
The editor is a drag-and-drop canvas with an AI assistant ("KI-Assistenz") in every package. The page lists over 100 templates from many industries, ready-made subpages such as "Team" and "Home", over 100 fonts, over 1000 icons or your own vector graphics, a free image library, image editing inside the builder, automatic image optimization, and image import from your computer, the web, Dropbox, Google Drive or Facebook. Backgrounds can be images, videos or parallax scrolling, and a content import pulls material from existing pages into a content library. A corporate identity setting fixes parameters for text, buttons and images.
Layout is device-aware. "Edit by Device" lets you change buttons or elements on the smartphone separately from desktop or tablet, and "Hide by Device" hides single elements or whole pages on chosen devices. You pick a navigation style per device type, add a shrinking header and a custom 404 page. The page says the responsive design is built on the ZURB framework. For people who know code, a developer mode lets you change the HTML and CSS of the site and program your own elements.
Beyond pages, the builder covers the features a small business site needs: a blog, password-protected pages for registered users, a multilingual site, personalized content for particular visitors, pop-up overlays for newsletter sign-ups or discounts, file downloads such as PDF, MP3 and DOC, YouTube and Vimeo video embedding, menu cards for restaurants, opening hours, a multi-location map for businesses with several branches, discount coupons, a visitor counter, Click2Call, Click2Map and Click2eMail. A contact form can send its entries straight into Google Sheet, MailChimp or Constant Contact. Social features include share buttons, a Twitter feed, Facebook likes and comments, Yelp reviews, Disqus comments and a PayPal button for donations. Extended visitor statistics, SEO optimization and compatibility with the rankingCoach SEO tool round it off, and the page promises that no advertising ever appears in your footer, "auch nicht im kleinsten Paket" (not even in the smallest package).
The shop is the second building block. The Shop package card reads "Inkl. 100 Produkte, Verkauf digitaler Güter & mehr" (including 100 products, sale of digital goods and more). The shop features list automated marketing emails, a mobile shopping cart, a branded shopping app for Android and iOS, an app to manage and monitor the shop from anywhere, product search and filters, a real-time shipping estimate based on the visitor's IP address, a content delivery network, automatic price adjustment for product variants, product options as dropdowns, radio buttons, text or checkboxes, inventory monitoring, stock control for add-ons and bundles, and storefront translation into 45 languages. Digital downloads such as eBooks are sold with up to 100 MB per file, and a download protection blocks saving images by right-click. The page adds that if your range grows, the shop can be upgraded at any time.
Domains and email are part of every package. Each includes 1 free domain, a .de on Starter and Profi and a choice of .de, .at, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info or .eu on Business and Shop. You can add domains at the company's prices, use external domains for free, and manage DNS zones in the webgo DNS tool. The home page says you can choose from over 380 TLDs. Email covers an autoresponder, POP3 and IMAP with IMAP IDLE push, a 3-stage spam filter that the page says catches over 98% of incoming spam, a virus filter and scanner, custom server-side filter rules, forwarding, webmail and SSL/TLS connections. FTP, SFTP, SSH and extra FTP users (for example a web designer limited to one folder) are listed too.
Packages, guarantee and support
The product page lists 4 packages, each with AI assistance and the Cookiebot cookie tool included:
- Starter, 9,95 euros a month: 1 free .de domain, 1 email address, 5 GB of email storage, 5 subpages.
- Profi, 13,95 euros a month: 5 email addresses, 5 GB email storage, 15 subpages, a backup function.
- Business, 19,95 euros a month: unlimited email addresses, 10 GB email storage, unlimited subpages, backup, blog and a new booking function.
- Shop, 31,95 euros a month: the shop with 100 products and digital goods, unlimited email addresses, 50 GB email storage, unlimited subpages, backup, blog and booking.
All packages list unlimited storage for files, databases and email, free traffic, and guaranteed availability of "über 99,5 % im Jahresmittel" (over 99.5% as an annual average). The product page footnote states a minimum contract term of 12 months and excludes premium domains. The home page explains the satisfaction guarantee: if you are not happy and no solution is found, "Sonderkündigungsrecht mit Geld-zurück-Garantie", a special right to cancel early with the last invoice amount refunded. Its "go! factors" include 100% green electricity and 100% hosting in Germany.
Support runs through a detailed FAQ, free live chat, phone support 365 days a year and email. The company says it won the German Customer Award for customer service in 2025, for the second time, and that the Stiftung Warentest consumer magazine gave the builder its quality seal in issue 02/2024 with a score of 2,4, rated "GUT" (good).
Who it suits and who it does not
The builder suits a small business, restaurant or freelancer in the German-speaking market who wants the site, domain and mailbox with a single host, values phone support and likes ready-made local features such as menus, opening hours and branch maps. The Shop package fits a small range with up to 100 products or digital downloads, and the developer mode gives a designer a way into the HTML and CSS.
It is a narrower fit for anyone who needs an English-language product, since the pages and support are German. Teams that want collaboration workflows or a database behind the site are outside what this builder offers. The 12-month minimum term means the first year is a commitment, and Starter's 5 subpages fill up quickly for a business with several services.
