What Umso is

Umso is a website builder for founders and small businesses who want a site that looks good and loads fast without spending hours on design. The company is Umso Software Inc., and the site says it is made in Canada. The homepage headline is "Build Fast and Beautiful Websites without AI", and it promises that "You don't need any experience to build a beautiful website for yourself, your small business, or anything else." Founder Alexis Taylor explains the idea on the homepage: "I needed a website. The builders out there? Way too complicated for what I wanted. I didn't want to spend hours creating the perfect design pixel by pixel. I just wanted something simple that looked good and loaded fast. So I built Umso."

What you build and how

Plan, edit, publish

The homepage lays the process out in 3 stages. Plan: "Go from idea to first draft with our Generator", which the company says gets a good result even if you have never built a website. Edit and design: "Our editor has fewer options, dials, toggles and settings so that you can focus on getting things done." Publish: "you can publish your website with a single click", with analytics, forms and blogs built in. The pitch for the extras is "View analytics, add a form, write a blog or translate your website. All within Umso. At no extra cost!"

The editor works in sections. The Senja integration page describes the routine: open your site in the editor, click "Add Section", then search by name or browse a category such as "Social Proof". The result is a marketing site, a landing page or a small multi-page business site.

Forms

Forms are the most developed feature, and the homepage frames them for startups: "Collect leads directly within Umso, without any 3rd-party services." The forms page says you can "Use our form presets or build custom forms to receive messages, orders, inquiries, and so much more!" and lists what sits behind them:

  • Response Database, to "View and search your form responses directly in the Umso dashboard."
  • CSV Export, "for archival or further analytics."
  • Email Notifications for every new submission.
  • Zapier Integration, to "Integrate with thousands of apps", plus custom webhooks.
  • JSON Webhooks to your own servers for further processing.
  • File Upload as part of a submission.
  • Spam Protection, with automatic captchas for suspicious content or always-on captchas.
  • Flexible Design, from "a single email input with a button to a complex job application form."
  • High Performance: the form is rendered directly into the website when you publish.

The demo form on that page shows a realistic job application: first and last name, email, a "How did you hear about us?" question, a position, a yes or no question about remote work, a LinkedIn field, a resume upload and a security question.

Blog

"Add a blog to your website with a few clicks and start publishing right away." The blog shares the site's domain, and "you can customize the blog path as well." The editor "supports basic formatting, author management, header, and inline images", so it is a writing tool rather than a page-layout tool. Setup is selecting the site and writing your first post. The homepage pitches it as content marketing: produce new content, extend your reach, start appearing on Google.

Analytics, cookies, languages and domains

Analytics is labeled "Privacy-First" in the menu, and the homepage says you get website analytics "with no extra setup." The Cookie Solution, labeled "GDPR Compliance" in the menu, sets up cookie banners "that help you respect your visitor's privacy. This is especially important for Europe." Multilingual Sites let you "Easily manage your website in multiple languages." Domains: "Find a new domain, transfer one you love, or connect one you already own - all in one place."

Integrations and teams

The footer names 2 integrations, Make and Senja, alongside the Zapier and webhook options for forms. Senja is "a platform for collecting, managing and sharing customer testimonials": you collect testimonials in Senja, design a widget in Senja Studio, add a Senja section in Umso, and the testimonials "automatically sync with your Senja data." The page says the integration works on the Free, Basic and Pro plans.

User Management is on the feature list and pricing promises "Unlimited users." A customer on the showcase page says Umso lets them "share different sites with different collaborators."

What the company's pages state about plans and claims

Pricing is "Per-site pricing. Unlimited users. No hidden costs," with a Bill Monthly and Bill Yearly toggle. The homepage lists 3 plans:

  • Free, $0 per site per month: The Basics, Homepage Only, Blog, Umso Branding, Free Subdomain, Basic Analytics and Chat & Email Support.
  • Basic, "Perfect for landing pages": printed as $14 per site per month, with $7 per site per month beside it. Everything in Free plus 10 Pages, No Branding, Custom Domain, Custom Code, Cookie Banner and Basic Forms.
  • Pro, "All features included": printed as $25 per site per month, with $20 beside it. Everything in Basic plus Unlimited Pages, Custom Forms, Advanced Analytics, Passwords, Multilingual Content and Site Export.

Site Export on Pro matters for anyone worried about lock-in. Sign-up carries "Cancel anytime. No credit card required."

Support is a chat "available Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm PST and 09:00-17:00 CET," plus documentation, a help center, a changelog and a status page, and a general contact form. The footer links a security policy, a DPA and an affiliate program, and the site comes in English, French, Portuguese and German.

The showcase page names sites built with Umso, among them InvestorHub (investor relations SaaS), a management consultancy, a sleep medicine expert, an education business, a B2C SaaS and a crypto tax list. Joseph Schiarizzi writes there: "Umso has saved me hundreds of hours of tinkering with other website builders. It just works." Another customer, Mike, says "The platform is easy to use, everything is clear and customer service actually exists."

Who it suits and who it does not

Umso suits a startup founder or small business owner who needs a presentable site, a lead form and a blog in one afternoon, and who values a single bill per site over a long list of options. Because users are unlimited and pricing is per site, a small team can share a site without paying per seat. The forms come with webhooks, file uploads and spam protection, so a hiring page or an intake form needs no extra tool.

The limits follow from the design. The free tier is a homepage only and Basic stops at 10 pages, so a larger site, password protection, translated content or site export means Pro. The editor is intentionally simple, so a designer who wants pixel control will find fewer options by design. And the support chat runs on weekday office hours in Pacific and Central European time.
