What SimDif is

SimDif is a multilingual website builder for people who want to get a small site online without hiring a designer or a developer. Its home page calls it "The website builder app that works the same on phones and computers," and points visitors to its multilingual sites and its built-in AI tools, which it says help keep website management simple. The reader it fits is a founder, a freelancer or the owner of a small business who needs a presentable site, a way to be found on Google and a domain name, and who would rather not manage servers or plugins. The site's language menu begins with Arabic and Bengali, which fits a product that sells itself on being multilingual. SimDif also publishes apps for Android and iOS, linked from the footer of its pages.

What you build and how

SimDif builds websites. It is not a database tool or an automation platform; it is a site builder with a strong focus on guidance. The home page says it has "the same features, and the exact same editing experience, on a phone, tablet or computer," so you can build a whole site from your phone, and it says "Over 4 million people have downloaded our apps." The company says it provides "the tools, hosting, and guidance you need to create a website." A free Starter site "helps you organize your content into a simple but effective website." The Smart version "offers additional features at a reasonable price," and the Pro version "has advanced features" for fuller control and customization. You can move up between the 3 versions as the site grows.

Design works through Themes. A theme is the look of the whole site, and the company argues that a business should design for its own audience rather than copy a generic template, with exceptions for a brand already familiar from a shopfront or creative work where personal taste is the point. To help with that choice, SimDif offers the Kai Graphic Theme Creator. Kai guides you through the options in a few simple steps. It asks about your audience, your activity and your location, and lets you share an image, your logo or a color to start from. On the free plan you can create and save one theme. To publish a theme, or to create more than one, you need Pro. The company says what you tell Kai stays within your SimDif account and that it does not add any private information when sending prompts to the AI. The same page says Kai also helps you write and improve your website, and the home page frames the AI tools as a way to keep site management simple.

The FAQ shows how much of the editing is covered in the product itself. Its questions cover changing the colors of a site, changing fonts, changing the favicon, adding a footer image, turning an image into a link, letting visitors download a file, adding an FAQ block to a regular page, creating an FAQ page, and editing the contact form. The FAQ also covers adding Communication Apps buttons, which give visitors a one-tap way to reach you through messaging apps. If you run a blog, the FAQ includes how to moderate blog comments. It also covers renaming the site, deleting the contact page, and adding Google Analytics. Another question asks how to get your business on Google Maps. These are the questions the company chose to answer, so they are a fair map of the features a typical small business site uses.

Selling online is handled through partners. The home page says you can "Quickly add payment buttons or integrate full online stores with Ecwid and Sellfy," and the pricing table adds payment buttons with PayPal, Gumroad and Sellfy, and digital downloads such as PDFs, eBooks and MP3s through Gumroad, Ecwid and Sellfy. Other building blocks on the pricing table include a dedicated FAQ page type, hiding pages from the menu, password-protected pages, fully customizable forms, buttons for WhatsApp, Messenger and other communication apps, your own Google AdSense account, and Structured Data for search engines.

Domains and hosting are handled in the same place. A free Starter site uses a free domain ending in .simdif.com. You can also buy your own domain name from SimDif, and the pricing page says domains are sold at a regular price with free SSL. According to the home page, YorName offers SimDif users "a simple way to buy and manage a domain name directly in the website builder app, with a free HTTPS (SSL) certificate." You buy at YorName.com or transfer an existing name there. The company contrasts this with other builders: "Other website builders make you pay for upgrades to use your custom domain name. With SimDif, you can use your own domain name with a free website." The pricing page states that the servers are located in France, and the FAQ includes a question on whether a free email account is available for your own domain name.

Search visibility is a large part of the offer. The Starter plan is described as "a free site, optimized for Google." SimDif publishes an SEO checklist made of 12 linked FAQs that walk through block titles, page titles, the website title, keywords, choosing a domain name, meta tags, Open Graph tags for social media, what the SimDif Optimization Assistant does, adding your site to the SimDif SEO Directory, telling Google about a new site, and seeing how many visitors your site gets. A separate page on websites and social media argues that a site you own gives you a home for your brand and builds trust, while social media should send people to it, and that messenger app links make contact easy.

Plans, prices and limits

The pricing page uses an unusual model. It shows a global Standard Price converted into your currency and a FairDif Price that "changes around the world, and is based on the cost of living where you are." The page says "Feel free to pick the price you prefer," and the home page says the features of Smart and Pro "are the same for everyone." The Standard Price, shown in Swiss francs, sets out three tiers:

  • Starter, free: "A free site, optimized for Google," on a free .simdif.com domain or your own domain bought at a regular price with free SSL. It allows 5 pages, 14 predefined color palettes, 6 shape presets and 9 font sets.
  • Smart, "More pages, more choices, friendly price": CHF 10.50 a month on monthly payment, or CHF 105 a year (shown as CHF 8.75 a month). It allows 12 pages, 56 palettes, 15 shape presets and 18 font sets.
  • Pro, "Enhanced features and customization": CHF 20 a month, or CHF 200 a year (shown as CHF 16.67 a month). It allows 30 pages and adds the ability to design and save your own complete Graphic Themes and AI-assisted theme creation.

Pro can be tried "free for 7 days, no card needed." The pricing FAQ describes a special offer of "3 years for the price of 2" when you pay on the web. A Starter site stays online for free as long as you publish it "at least once every 6 months"; a site with no updates after 1 year is erased. You can have "up to 3 free Starter sites on the same account, and as many Smart or Pro sites as you like." Multilingual sites with continuous automatic translation cost extra per language, with the pricing table showing CHF 100 and CHF 67.50 a year per language for the two paid tiers.

Every version includes hosting, which the page calls "Free and reliable hosting for everyone. The servers are located in France." Support on the pricing table covers Kai Chat, which "answers your questions instantly, in your language," an in-app hotline that "replies within 24 hours," and a personal review of your published site by a member of the team. New accounts also receive an advice letter "every 2 days" in the first weeks. The FAQ covers canceling a subscription bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play and names PayPro Global, so paid plans can be bought in the apps or on the web. It also answers whether a site needs a cookie banner and whether a site is GDPR compliant given that SimDif uses Google fonts.

Who it suits and who it does not

SimDif suits a solo founder, a freelancer or a small business that needs a straightforward site with a free starting point. It also suits a business that serves customers in several languages, since multilingual sites with automatic translation are a headline feature. People outside high-cost countries may like the FairDif price, which adjusts to local cost of living. The SEO checklist and the Optimization Assistant help beginners who have never written a meta tag, and someone who works mainly from a phone can build and publish without a computer.

It suits less well a team that wants to build a data-driven application or an internal tool, because SimDif is a website builder. Selling online runs through Ecwid, Sellfy, PayPal and Gumroad rather than a store of its own. A designer who wants control of every pixel works within themes and presets, and saving and publishing custom Graphic Themes needs Pro. The page caps (5, 12 and 30 pages) also set a ceiling for larger sites. For a business site that mostly needs to exist, load fast and be found, the plan structure is easy to follow.
