What the product is

Fasthosts is a UK hosting company that sells domains, web hosting, email, servers and 2 template-based website builders from one site. Its home page headline is "Domains, Servers, Websites and Email made simple", and it describes itself as "Hosted in the UK, powered by British innovation". The builders are aimed at people with no coding background who want a business online quickly: "Use one of our website builders to get online quick." The company says it grew "from an A-Level project to a thriving, award-winning business", that its "HQ sitting in Gloucester since 1998", and that it won Medium Business of the Year at the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards in 2025.

What you build and how

Fasthosts sells 2 builders under its Websites menu. The Website Builder is described as a way to "get your business online in just a few clicks, no dev skills needed". The Ecommerce Website Builder is pitched as a way to "set up shop and build an impressive online store in minutes". On the home page the process is the same for both: pick a template, customize it, and publish. The home page puts it as "pick a template, customise it and hey presto", with "some freebies for good measure", and says the Ecommerce Website Builder includes a free domain and SSL.

The site presents the builders as template-driven site makers rather than a programmable platform, and everything else in the account is managed from one Control Panel, which the home page says covers "servers and websites to mailboxes and billing".

The surrounding products matter more than the builder pages suggest, because they give you other ways to put a site online.

Web Hosting is described as "feature-packed" with a free domain and SSL included. The home page says packages offer up to 500GB storage, free SSL certificates and up to 5 free domain names. A Windows Hosting option is listed with 99.99% uptime. Hosting for WordPress is described as a WordPress-optimized platform with "built-in security and beginner-friendly tools", plus a free domain name, SSL certificate and mailbox. A WordPress Themes page promises one-click setup on thousands of themes. For people who want more control, the menu also lists VPS Hosting with dedicated resources, and Reseller Hosting for people who want to make money reselling Fasthosts products.

The company's blog adds context on the WordPress route. One post compares WordPress, Joomla and Drupal and notes that all three are written in PHP and support the MySQL database. It says Fasthosts sells hosting packages optimized for each: Hosting for WordPress, Joomla Hosting and Drupal Hosting. A second post contrasts WordPress.org, the free open-source software you install on a web server, with WordPress.com, a paid hosted service. It argues that installing WordPress.org on a hosting plan is often the cheaper way to get a full WordPress site.

Domains are part of the same account. The company sells .com and .co.uk names and others, offers bulk domain search, and says you can "transfer unlimited existing domains for free". Email comes in two forms: Email Hosting and Microsoft Exchange. There is also an AI Receptionist product that the page says captures leads outside working hours, books appointments on the phone and sends call summaries by email, and which can be canceled online at any time.

Further up the stack, the server range covers cloud servers with pay-per-minute billing, a public cloud for dynamic workloads, dedicated and bare metal servers with "100% dedicated resources", and GPU servers with a choice of Nvidia or Intel GPUs. A site owner who starts on the builder never needs these, but they show the account can grow from a template site into hosted infrastructure without changing provider. The home page also offers help moving in: customers unhappy with their current host can transfer, and the company says it will help find the easiest way to migrate. Partners have a Partner Programme, a Partner Network and an Affiliate Programme that pays commission for promoting the hosting products.

For the ecommerce reader, the membership is simple. The Ecommerce Website Builder is the store product, priced as a promotion for the first 3 months.

The evidence from the pages

The home page publishes a price list, all in pounds:

  • .co.uk domains, 1 year for £1.
  • Web Hosting from 99p a month.
  • Hosting for WordPress from 99p a month.
  • Website Builder from 1p a month.
  • Email Hosting from £1 a month.
  • Intel Dedicated Servers from £36 a month.
  • Virtual Private Servers from £2 a month for 3 months.
  • Ecommerce Website Builder £1 a month for the first 3 months.

Elsewhere the home page also shows Microsoft Exchange from £1 per mailbox per month. These are entry prices, several of them introductory. One of the company's own blog posts gives a different figure for the WordPress product: it says the Hosting for WordPress package "starts at £3.24" with 10GB of storage and a free 1-year domain, against the 99p on the home page.

Support is positioned as a strength. The home page invites customers to "Speak to our team 24/7" by phone and says on-site engineers monitor its UK data centers 24/7, which it says run on 100% renewable electricity. It shows a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 21619 reviews. The home page carries customer reviews, including one from June 2025 describing a Friday call just before 6pm, answered almost immediately and resolved in under 10 minutes, and another from July 2025 saying the staff are "cheery and seem genuinely happy to help." On data sovereignty, the home page says its UK data centers are "at the core of the services we provide". Its security statements are the free SSL certificates, the "built-in security" wording for WordPress hosting and the monitored data centers.

Who it suits and who it does not

Fasthosts suits a small business, a freelancer or a first-time site owner who wants the domain, hosting, email and a simple builder from one UK company, and who will judge the product partly by price. The entry costs are low, the free domain and SSL are included with hosting, and the WordPress and VPS options give a route up if a site outgrows a template.

It is a reasonable fit for a small shop owner testing an idea, since the ecommerce builder is £1 a month for the first 3 months. It also fits someone who already knows they want WordPress and just needs a host, since the company sells optimized plans and publishes guidance on choosing between WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.

It is a weaker fit for a team that needs a documented application platform. The builders are presented as template site makers for getting a business online, not as a place to build internal tools with data and logic. The ecommerce and VPS prices are stated for the first 3 months only, so a first-year budget should allow for the regular rate that follows.
