What Claude CMS is

Claude CMS is an AI-native website and ecommerce builder for founders and small businesses that would rather describe a site than click through an admin panel. The company's site calls it a PHP/MySQL CMS operated entirely via Anthropic's MCP protocol: Claude has full read and write access to pages, files, the database and server config, and builds what you ask for in plain English. The site offers it in a Business view and a Developer view, the second spelling out the tool calls and file rules behind each feature.

What you build and how

There is no dashboard to learn. The site says so directly: Claude CMS has no admin panel, Claude is the admin. You tell Claude what you want, such as a landing page, a product section, a blog or a complete redesign, and share your brand, copy and ideas. Claude connects to your website through a secure connector, creates pages, writes custom CSS, sets up navigation, wires up payments and deploys everything live. The site names the tool calls behind this, for example site_create_page, file_write and site_update_settings, and says Claude maps your plain-language request to them and runs them in sequence against your server.

The connector is broad. The company says the MCP server exposes 15+ tools covering pages CRUD, filesystem I/O, SQL execution, navigation management, settings and backups. Protected files, config.php and .htaccess, are read-only, and PHP files are syntax-checked before deployment. The output is raw HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL generated on demand, with support for custom CSS, Stripe webhooks, SMTP and arbitrary PHP endpoints.

Changes reach production immediately. The site describes synchronous read and write access to the filesystem, database and page store, with no build step and no deployment pipeline. Iteration is conversational: ask for a new section or a different color scheme and the live site updates in seconds. Claude keeps the conversation context, so follow-up prompts trigger incremental updates such as CSS variable changes or schema migrations rather than starting over. The company also mentions deployment without Git, with automatic backups and rollback support.

What Claude controls. The home page breaks the connector into four areas. Pages and content: create, update and delete pages, with page types (page, post, landing), slugs, meta descriptions and draft or live states. Design and styling: Claude writes the design from scratch rather than from templates, using CSS custom properties in a theme file, Google Fonts, keyframe animations and responsive breakpoints. Files and server: Claude can read, write, delete and rename files inside the site directory, such as contact form handlers or payment processors, with an allowed-extensions list and an automatic backup on every write. Database: a query tool runs SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE TABLE and ALTER TABLE, while DROP, TRUNCATE and GRANT are blocked, so custom tables, form submissions and customer dashboards can be built through conversation.

Building blocks. Prebuilt pieces are available when you want a head start. A blog block gives a branded, category-filtered blog with a listing page, an article template and pagination. A content management block adds your own content types with a full revision history (who changed what, diffs and one-click restore), and stays off until you switch it on. An admin login block offers role-based sign-in with Google Authenticator two-factor, session handling and rate-limited attempts. The ecommerce block is described as headless store deployment with a product catalog, stock, hosted checkout and an order admin, and an animations block covers scroll-driven reveals, hero particle fields and UI motion that honors reduced-motion settings.

Ecommerce. This is the second category the product sits in. A store built here includes product pages, category structure, a cart, checkout, order emails and an admin panel. Checkout runs on Stripe: Checkout Sessions with line items from cart state, Stripe Elements for a custom checkout UI, and HMAC-verified fulfillment webhooks. Customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and order confirmation emails go out automatically. The admin is password-protected PHP over your own order and product tables, with a live order list showing payment and fulfillment status, per-order detail, stock levels, status updates and CSV export, plus an optional USPS and UPS label API integration. Staff can process orders and check stock without developer help, or ask Claude to summarize the week's sales. The site lists retail and physical products, subscriptions and memberships (Stripe subscriptions, member login areas, content gating and cancellation flows), and B2B and trade stores with trade account login, price-list tiers, bulk order forms and invoice generation as supported shapes. It also says Claude CMS connects to existing WooCommerce or Shopify stores and can run them.

Integrations. They are written as dependency-free PHP using raw cURL against REST APIs, with no Composer, npm or SDK. The logo strip shows Stripe, PayPal, Gmail, Google Drive, Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Zoho, Veeqo, EasyPost and Royal Mail; the store page adds USPS, UPS and FedEx. The connectors menu also lists website platforms (WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Elementor and Framer), Shopify, Google Sheets and Google Drive backup, with a form to request a new connector.

Getting started. For a store, the company lays out 4 steps: get hosting on any standard PHP/MySQL host (around $4-$10 a month), describe your store, let Claude build it and refine by conversation, then connect Stripe, point your domain and take orders. It says the company installs Claude CMS in about 10 minutes and connects your domain.

What the pages say about cost

Plans are shown in pounds, dollars or euros, and you are billed in the currency shown. In pounds: Monthly License is £6.99 a month and covers the connector license, full MCP tool access and unlimited pages and changes, with your own hosting and Claude account. Setup + Monthly is £9.99 a month with no setup fee: the company sets it up and you run it, adding routine web edits and support, done-for-you install and tailoring to your brand. The home page says Setup + Monthly includes a 30-day free first month, and that if you cancel, your site keeps serving pages. Full Build + SEO/AEO is £249.99 a month with hosting, setup and Claude access included, a personal developer consultant, managed hosting and priority support.

The ecommerce page restates Setup + Monthly as $12.99 flat (billed as £9.99) and adds sales bands. That plan "covers a store doing up to $50,000 a month. Above that, Growth is $59 a month up to $250,000, and Scale is $189 a month beyond it." Bands are measured on a rolling month of sales in the store's own currency, with no transaction fees at any size and themes and plugins included free. The company does not charge card processing fees, so you pay your payment provider's rates. The same page lists the store at $12.99 a month with your own host or $25.98 if the company hosts it, and says you own the store because it is self-hosted.

Who it suits and who it does not

Claude CMS suits a solo founder, freelancer or small shop owner who has a Claude account, wants a custom-looking site or store, and would rather talk through changes than manage a theme. Sellers who want to avoid per-order platform fees, or who need a subscription, membership or trade-account flow that a template store makes awkward, are the clearest fit. The company says revisions that used to take days happen in a conversation.

The trade-offs are real. There is no visual editor, so a team that wants to drag blocks around will find the conversation model indirect. You also need PHP/MySQL hosting, either your own or through a higher plan, and the output is custom PHP that a future developer would have to read. The store page is written around Stripe checkout, although it says there is no penalty for using your own payment gateway, and PayPal sits in the integrations strip. And the Monthly License needs a Claude account of your own.
