What the product is

SimiCart is a no-code mobile app builder for Shopify. Its home page describes it as a tool "designed for Shopify businesses of all sizes" that helps you "launch a professional mobile shopping app quickly and affordably." It is aimed at Shopify merchants who want an iOS and Android app for their store without hiring developers, and at brands that want a development partner for something larger than a template.

The company introduces itself as "a proud member of BSS Commerce" that has been "transforming ecommerce experiences since 2011." It says it has 10+ years in ecommerce, "starting with Magento and now specializing in Shopify," and that it is part of the BSS Commerce family and "a team of 300+ experts." The site's footer also lists a Magento 2 mobile app solution and a mobile commerce service beside the Shopify builder, a trace of that Magento history.

What you build and how

The core product is the Shopify Mobile App Builder. The home page lists three promises under it: "Create iOS & Android native mobile apps without coding," "All essential ecommerce features included" and "Free to build and customize, no hidden costs." A reader in the store-to-app builders group gets exactly that, a Shopify store turned into an app, and a reader in the mobile apps group gets a no-code route to apps on both stores.

The company's own blog gives more detail about how the builder works. In an article ranking ecommerce app builders, SimiCart lists itself first, as a free Shopify mobile app builder. Its key features are a drag-and-drop builder, pre-built themes and design elements, real-time auto-sync with Shopify "to eliminate manual updates", free app publishing on iOS and Android, unlimited push notifications, multi-language and multi-currency support, and branding control over logo, font and color. It sums up the pros as follows.

  • An easy drag-and-drop interface.
  • Free app publishing on both iOS and Android.
  • Real-time syncing with the Shopify store.
  • A customizable app design that matches your brand identity.
  • Unlimited push notifications.

The same article says you can change your logo, font and colors, and keep "multiple app design drafts for brainstorming and seasonal campaigns." Its one stated con is that SimiCart is "primarily for Shopify users" and "may not be suitable for other eCommerce platforms."

The data layer is the Shopify store itself. Your store data stays in Shopify, and a second blog article says any change you make in the online store "will reflect instantly in the app", and that you operate the app from one dashboard. That article also lists templates among the design features and says the push notifications can carry promotions, updates or other alerts.

The navigation links to "Mobile App Templates" and a "Demo Store" for a look at finished designs. On integrations, the company's own article lists "Limited integrations with third-party tools" as a con of SimiCart, which is worth weighing if your store runs on a stack of reviews, loyalty or subscription apps. The blog also points to free side tools from the company, a Simicart Free AI App Name Generator and a Simicart ASO Audit Tool for app store rankings.

Beyond the builder, the home page describes a second offer, "eCommerce App Development Services." It is built around "Shopify Hydrogen and PWA development" and is pitched at stores that suffer from slow websites. The listed outcomes are a "lightning-fast website with high Google Lighthouse score," a "native app-like experience" in the mobile browser, and "rich content page using a drag-and-drop page builder to customize storefronts with zero codes." That makes SimiCart more than an app builder: a merchant can start with the free no-code app and later commission storefront work from the same team. The site gives no prices for the services.

The evidence from the pages

Pricing is where the company's own pages disagree. The home page says the builder is "free to build and customize, no hidden costs," the navigation carries "Try our app for free" and "Start Shopify Trial," and the ecommerce article says publishing to iOS and Android is free. The no-code article, by contrast, says pricing "is usually tailor-made per feature and need, so you would have to reach out directly for quotes", and in the same entry says it has no free version or trial while listing "offer free version" among the pros. The firm statements are free building and free publishing; the running cost is quoted on request.

The company's own facts are these. SimiCart says it has been in ecommerce since 2011, that it sits within BSS Commerce, and that it has 300+ experts across the family. The no-code article says it suits small-to-medium businesses that want better engagement and retention through mobile apps, and that reviews "are few at the moment" but heading toward a 5-star rating.

The home page says that "SimiCart-powered apps are live on the App Store and Google Play, delivering real results for Shopify brands around the world."

Customer comments sit on the home page under "From our customers," and they show what the process feels like. HTO Apparel says "the building was very easy and realistic" and that the team helped get development "off the ground" and made sure the app was "tested pushed through both Apple and Google store." Macedon Ranges Produce calls it "a user friendly journey to build an app ourselves," says submission to the Google and Apple stores "went smoothly," and describes "a low cost app out to market that doesn't look like you've cut any corners." Lunacy Deals & Designs says SimiCart is "refreshingly easy to set up and create your app to publish on Google Play and/or the App Store." Memmos praises the team's support, and Herbalife Shop Online says the app has "all the main features" of the store. Two reviewers name the same support contact, Bianca, which says something about how hands-on the support is. These are the company's selected testimonials, a sample of satisfied users rather than a balanced review.

Who it suits and who it does not

SimiCart suits a Shopify merchant who wants a first app at a low entry cost. The free-to-build promise and the testimonials about easy setup, store submission and responsive support point at small and mid-sized stores run by a few people, such as an apparel brand or a produce seller. It also suits a brand that expects to outgrow a template, because the same company offers Hydrogen and PWA development, so the path from a no-code app to a custom storefront does not mean switching vendors.

It is a weaker fit for three kinds of buyer. A store on another commerce platform is outside what the Shopify builder targets, since the company's own blog says it is primarily for Shopify users. A store that depends on many third-party apps should note the company's own remark about limited integrations and test its stack in the demo store first. And a founder budgeting a year should remember that "free to build" is not the same as "free to run": the running cost is quoted per feature and need.
