What SurveyMethods is
SurveyMethods is online survey software for teams that collect customer feedback, run employee surveys or conduct market research. Its home page calls it "Professional Online Survey Software" and says it is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and organizations worldwide, with 20M+ responses collected, a 4.9/5 user rating and 20+ years trusted. The footer says it has been trusted by organizations worldwide since 2003, and the page is badged "Rated #1 for Customer Satisfaction on Capterra". Support hours are listed as Monday to Friday, 4am to 5pm ET, with a support e-mail address and a phone line in the header.
The product menu names Surveys, Forms and Quizzes, and the site adds Event Management on top. It's a questionnaire platform rather than an app builder, so the reader who gets the most from it is a marketing, HR, customer success or research team that wants to ask questions and analyze answers, and an IT team that wants those surveys connected to other tools.
What you build and how
The company frames the work as 5 steps. Design: use templates or build custom surveys "in minutes with 20+ question types". Customize: add your logo, colors and branding, and set privacy and page logic. Launch: distribute by email, embed on your website or share on social media. Manage: track responses in real time and send automated reminders. Analyze: AI-powered insights, custom reports and data export options.
The builder is drag and drop, and the home page says no technical skills are required. A real-time preview shows how the survey looks while you build, and the site says there are ready-to-use, professionally designed templates for any use case. Customization goes beyond a logo: the feature list names optional or mandatory questions, survey quotas, save-and-resume, look-and-feel customization, anonymous settings and language support, plus "advanced page logic". On Professional, that becomes advanced field-based logic, graphical themes and custom branding.
The AI layer is a real part of the pitch. The home page lists Smart Survey Suggestions (tips to write better questions), AI-Powered Sentiment Analysis that detects emotions in open-ended responses, Trend Detection and Predictive Insights using machine learning, Response Quality Scoring that identifies low-quality or inconsistent responses, and Ask AI, a chat with your survey data. The company's comparison page says these AI analytics are included at no extra cost, and that even the free Basic plan has access to an AI survey builder.
Forms and events extend the product. The Complete Platform section lists Surveys, AI Analytics, Event Management and Integrations as separate areas. Event Management is described as creating and managing events with registration forms, attendee tracking and automated communications, which is the closest the pages come to a general forms use case beyond surveys. The Forms and Quizzes entries in the product menu tell you the platform also handles those formats, and the Advanced plan lists "Create & Manage Events" among its features.
Integrations are straightforward. The home page shows logos for Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Sheets, Mailchimp and Teams, and says you can connect with the apps you use through Zapier and a REST API, "Plus 5,000+ more apps via Zapier". The comparison table marks REST API access as Professional and above, and the Professional plan lists unlimited API calls. Enterprise adds "Support for HR, Helpdesk, and CRM Integration" and workflow tools.
On the respondent side, the pages describe distribution by email, embedding in a website, sharing on social media and QR codes. Surveys can auto-close, reminders go out automatically, and results can be e-mailed as a PDF. On the reporting side, the comparison table ticks real-time reporting, cross-tabulation and export to Excel/CSV and SPSS, and on the Professional plan reports can be published online. The logic rows tick skip logic, advanced branching and survey quotas, and the AI rows tick AI survey creation alongside sentiment analysis, Ask AI and response quality scoring.
Security is described in broad terms: "Your data is protected with enterprise-grade security. We will never sell your data or use it for marketing purposes. You control who has access." The comparison page adds that the company offers GDPR-compliant data handling and that it serves customers worldwide, with region choices of Americas and UK/EU/AU in the footer. The footer links separate Security and GDPR pages.
Plans, pricing and limits
There are 4 rungs on the home page's pricing table, and you can subscribe month-to-month or save with an annual plan. The free Basic plan lists unlimited surveys, 20 questions per survey, 50 responses per survey, the survey library, 20+ question types, basic themes and customizations, web deployment, real-time reports, filtered results and SurveyMethods branding. The FAQ on the company's comparison page describes the free plan differently, as "free forever" with 3 surveys, 15 responses per survey and access to the AI survey builder, so check the current limits at sign-up. Either way, the response cap makes it a way to try the product. The company also offers a fully functional free trial with no contract and no credit card required.
The Advanced plan is $12 per month, or $15/mo if paying month-to-month. It lists unlimited questions and unlimited responses, question-based and unconditional page logic, reminders, auto-close, results e-mailed in PDF format, event creation and management, adding a logo, and phone and email support. The comparison table gives response limits of 10,000-30,000/year for SurveyMethods without tying them to a plan, and the same page says there is no per-user pricing on standard plans.
Professional is the plan marked "Most Popular": $41 per month, or $49/mo if paying month-to-month. It lists advanced field-based logic, survey quotas, remotely triggered surveys, a custom report builder, publishing reports online, graphical themes, custom branding, unlimited API calls, anonymous surveys and advanced email lists. The comparison table puts REST API access and removal of the platform branding at Professional and above. It also lists live chat support, and email support on all plans.
Enterprise is quoted by phone or email. It lists volume discounts, collaboration tools, support for HR, helpdesk and CRM integration, workflow tools, dedicated support, live training, advisory services, third-party deployment and custom analysis. The comparison table also puts a custom survey URL on Enterprise. The pricing menu adds an Academic & Non-Profit page, and the solutions menu names Enterprise, Academic and Non-Profit audiences.
For credibility, the home page quotes Nancy Azneer of HCA Hospital Corporation of America: "SurveyMethods has been our tool of choice for several years for accumulating data about important Supply Chain initiatives." Jay Schindler of Northrop Grumman Information Services writes that "It's backed up by a team of dedicated professionals," and Ralph La Tella of the Health Information Management Association of Australia says "none had the flexibility, range of tools, selection of output types, and ease of use."
Who it suits and who it does not
SurveyMethods suits a small or mid-size team that wants a survey tool with logic, quotas and AI analysis at a published price, and an enterprise group that wants workflow tools, training and advisory services. Marketing teams that already use Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack or Mailchimp, or any of the apps on Zapier, can get survey data into those systems without building anything custom.
The honest limits are on the free side. Basic caps responses per survey and carries SurveyMethods branding, so it's a way to try the product, not to run a real program, and the home page and the FAQ state different limits for it. Branding removal and the REST API start at Professional, and collaboration tools sit in Enterprise, which matters for a team of several survey authors. Event Management, Forms and Quizzes are named but described in a line each.
