What it is

BlockSurvey is a survey and form builder that sells itself on privacy. Its home page headline reads "Build Privacy-First Surveys. Own Every Response," and the tagline under it says every response stays encrypted. It is a tool for research teams, small organizations, independent practitioners, NGOs and larger companies that collect answers people would rather keep private: patient feedback, personal information, qualitative research interviews.

The site does not say where the company is based. They do say the product is used by "Leading Brands across 50+ countries" and that more than 500 organizations use it to make decisions while keeping complete data ownership. The home page also quotes ratings of 4.8 on G2 Crowd and 4.9 on Capterra.

The reader this entry is for is someone who needs a form or survey builder where the answers are the sensitive part, and who wants AI help with writing the questions and reading the results.

What you build and how

You build surveys and forms. The company's phrase for the workflow is "Your AI survey expert": you design a survey, run conversational interviews and read the insights, with encryption applied to every response along the way.

Creating. AI Survey Creation is described as a way to create high-quality, unbiased surveys with AI tools that save time and reduce cost. Around it sit smaller helpers named on the home page: Generate Options with AI, which drafts answer choices, and Rephrase with AI, which tightens the wording and tone of a question or its description. There is also an AI Sample Responses Generator, and an AI Survey Migration tool. On its Alchemer comparison page the company says you export your existing surveys from Alchemer and import them with that AI-powered tool, and that its team offers white-glove support for the move.

Connecting your own assistant. A feature called Survey MCP connects BlockSurvey to Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT, so you can create, edit and publish surveys without leaving the assistant. If your team already works in one of those tools, that is a second way to build besides the visual builder.

Conversational surveys. Instead of a fixed list of questions, a Conversational AI Survey is a dialogue that adapts to each respondent. The company pairs it with AI Adaptive Questioning, where adaptive follow-up questions are used to get fuller answers to open-ended questions. A customer who runs an NGO describes the result as chat-like surveys that increase engagement.

Forms with branching. The company's Formstack comparison page lists skip logic and branching, advanced question types and white-label branding in its customization row. A clinical psychologist quoted on the home page describes forms that adapt based on a patient's responses, keeping assessments shorter, more relevant and less fatiguing. Templates are a selling point too: the same comparison page says "1,000+ templates," and a reviewer quoted on the Alchemer page says the number of templates he can use and customize is what he likes best.

Analysis. AI Survey Analysis is the other half. The home page lists thematic and systematic analysis and anomaly detection. AI Thematic Analysis finds common patterns in qualitative data, and AI Sentiment Analysis identifies sentiment polarity in qualitative research. The company states the built-in analytics and export tools on the comparison page, so results can leave the platform.

Distribution and data. Premium adds audience management and custom survey links, and Team adds campaigns. The comparison page lists webhooks and popular app integrations, and says to check pricing for the current list by plan. It does not name the integrations.

Collaboration. The Team plan covers 3 users, and a reviewer on the Alchemer comparison page says team collaboration features sealed the deal for their NGO. The company also positions its pricing against per-user caps, promising "transparent pricing with no 3-user caps."

What the pages state about plans and claims

The home page lists four plans and says "Every plan keeps end-to-end encryption and full data ownership." Yearly billing is advertised as 2 months free.

  • Standard, $49 a month billed monthly or $39 a month billed yearly: "Unlimited surveys with AI-powered creation, end-to-end encryption, and core privacy protections."
  • Premium, $99 a month or $79 a month billed yearly: everything in Standard, plus AI follow-up questions, custom branding, audience management and custom survey links.
  • Team, $149 a month or $119 a month billed yearly, for 3 users: everything in Premium, plus AI data analysis, market research question types, campaigns and compliance essentials.
  • Enterprise, priced as "Let's Talk": for organizations that need scale, security, SSO, white-label control and personalized onboarding.

The calls to action read "Start free" and "Sign up for free," but the home page does not state what the free tier includes, so check the pricing page for those limits before you plan a pilot around them.

On compliance, the page is specific only in the testimonials and plan lists. A clinical psychologist writes that "HIPAA compliance at an affordable price point" made BlockSurvey the right fit for an independent practice, and the Team plan includes "compliance essentials." On the Alchemer comparison page the company answers the question about enterprises with a yes: it says the platform serves businesses of all sizes, with scalable survey tools and strong security and privacy features, and meets data protection regulations. The site names no security certification, and it does not publish a hosting region.

The usage claims on the home page are worth reading as the company's own. It says 1,000+ hours are saved annually by businesses using the platform, and 500+ organizations use it. A whitepaper on the resources list covers qualitative research with 15 IR professionals at 15 U.S. institutions, and the resource library also lists playbooks, webinars and a podcast on survey design, data privacy and research practice.

Who it suits and who it does not

BlockSurvey suits a team where privacy is the buying criterion. A small psychology practice that needs a HIPAA-minded form tool at a modest price, an NGO that collects personal information from the people it serves, and a research group that wants AI-assisted thematic analysis of open-ended answers are all described in the company's own testimonials. Teams that already work inside Claude or ChatGPT get a direct route through the Survey MCP connection. Ops and support teams who want branching intake forms can use it, though its center of gravity is surveys and research rather than payments or document workflows.

A few caveats follow from what the pages say. The entry price is $39 a month billed yearly, which is more than a team needs for an occasional contact form. The plan ladder puts AI follow-up questions on Premium and AI data analysis on Team, so the AI features that define the product are not all on the cheapest tier. Integrations are described generally, with no named list on the site, so check that your CRM or database is supported before committing. The site states no self-hosting or code-export option, and no region choice, so a team that needs the survey software on its own servers should ask the company first.
