What MESA is

MESA is a workflow automation platform for online store owners. Its home page is titled "AI Automation for Shopify & Etsy Sellers", and its trademark notice names ShopPad, Inc. as the owner. The pitch is a single instruction, "Describe what your Shopify store should be doing", followed by the promise that you describe the task and MESA builds a working workflow.

The reader it is written for is a merchant or store operations person who already knows what should happen automatically and has been stuck on building it. In the company's words, "Most merchants already know what they want to automate. Ideas are not the problem. Building them is." It is built for a Shopify store that wants orders, customers, inventory and reports to move between your apps without someone copying data by hand.

What you build and how

The editor starts as a chat. The home page walks through a 3-step flow. First you describe what you want, for example "When an order over $500 comes in, tag it VIP and ping #warehouse on Slack." Second, MESA builds the logic and connects your apps, and the demo shows the result as a workflow called VIP Order Routing: order created, check whether the value is at least $500, tag the order VIP, send a message to a Slack channel. Third, you turn it on, and the demo shows a run log with each order and how many milliseconds it took. The company describes this as taking a plain-English request and turning it into "a live, multi-step workflow."

You can also skip the chat and start from the template library. The company states there are 300+ pre-built templates, and its Shopify page shows dozens. A sample of what they do:

  • Send Shopify orders to Google Sheets, or to a Notion database.
  • Add product options to Shopify order notes, with variants for several product-option apps named on the page.
  • Generate unique discount codes for new Shopify customers.
  • Get SMS alerts for new Shopify orders, or an email when a product goes out of stock.
  • Tag customers as VIPs after $500 or more in spend, or at lifetime spending milestones.
  • Schedule Shopify theme changes for specific dates and events.
  • Create Trello cards from new orders, or publish products when Trello cards move to Approved.
  • Sync Odoo product updates to Shopify, or send Odoo order and customer details into Shopify.
  • Create Shopify products from Airtable records.
  • Handle subscription events, such as tagging orders processed with Recharge, adding a free product to an upcoming Recharge order, or tagging a customer when a subscription payment fails.
  • Send a Klaviyo message when an order is delivered, or delivery confirmation texts through Wonderment tracking.

Beyond templates, the platform ships a set of built-in tools you place in a workflow. The list on the Shopify page includes Activity, AI, API, Approval, Code, Data, Delay, Email, Filter, Form, FTP, Image, Logic, Loop, Package Tracking, Paths, Queue, Relay, RSS, Schedule, Scraper, SMS, Transform, Weather, Web Request and Webhook. That covers branching with Paths and Logic, repetition with Loop, sign-off steps with Approval, custom scripting with Code, and calls to outside systems with API, Web Request and Webhook. A workflow is described as triggers that start it and actions that happen as it runs, and the Shopify page says MESA "connects every Shopify event to automations across your business stack." A separate MESA Admin API is listed under resources, along with documentation and workflow tutorials.

The use-case menu shows the areas the company organizes the product around: order automation, inventory management, fulfillment, post-purchase experience, marketing, AI automation, and B2B and wholesale. Its examples of data flow are specific. As customers shop, MESA updates their tags, fields and records so email lists, loyalty tiers and a CRM stay accurate. It watches inventory levels and triggers alerts or reorder actions when stock drops. It sends orders, customers and products to spreadsheets, CRMs and ERPs so teams skip manual exports. The home page also mentions keeping inventory in sync across Shopify, Etsy, Odoo and Airtable, which is how the Etsy side of the product shows up.

Integrations are claimed at 100+, with Shopify, Odoo, ShipStation and HubSpot named on the home page, and Airtable, Google Sheets, Slack and Klaviyo appearing in its examples and template names. There is no storefront, app or customer-facing output here. What your customers experience is the effect: a faster delivery text, a correct tag, a discount code that arrives.

What the pages say about plans and claims

The site's text prints no prices. The company says "Enjoy a 7-day free trial", the home page closes with a "Start for free" button, and a Pricing page sits in the navigation.

The social proof is concrete. The company says it is trusted by 1,000+ merchants and shows a 4.9 rating on the Shopify App Store. Testimonials come from Big League Food Company, Madhappy, Dozy Oats, PetFriendly, Zailys and Eiyan Lens. Big League Food Company says MESA "has become the hub for all things automation in our Shopify store", Madhappy calls it "the only solution that can handle our complex requirements for managing our store", and Eiyan Lens says the team "helped us set up the right workflow for us."

Support is a selling point here. The pages promise "free workflow setup", where the team builds your first workflow with you live, and say most merchants "walk away with automation saving 5+ hours/week", which is the company's claim. First response averages same day, critical issues are escalated immediately, and complex builds take 24-48 hours. Chat is with "real automation experts (not bots)", email support runs 9am-5pm PST, and Google Meet sessions are offered for complex workflows. Managed services include personalized workflow reviews and quarterly check-ins.

Who it suits and who it does not

MESA suits a Shopify or Etsy merchant who wants automation with someone to call. A store owner with a short list of repeated chores, such as tagging orders, alerting a warehouse, logging sales to a sheet and watching stock, can describe each one and have it running quickly, and the template library covers many of those jobs already. Operations teams that run Odoo, ShipStation, Klaviyo or Airtable beside the store get ready-made connections. A team that wants a person to build the first workflow with them will value the included setup help.

It is a narrower fit outside that world. The product is organized around Shopify and Etsy, so a business on another commerce platform, or one that wants general-purpose automation across unrelated apps, is outside the audience the site addresses. Anyone who needs a published website, mobile app or customer portal will need a different builder, since MESA automates work behind the store.
