What Breakdance is
Breakdance is a visual page builder that runs as a plugin inside WordPress. A review on theplusaddons.com, a WordPress add-on vendor, describes it as a page builder from Soflyy, released in September 2022, now on version 2.8, and positioned as a lightweight, all-in-one builder. A review on goldpenguin.org also dates the release to September 2022 and names Louis Reingold as Soflyy's founder and CEO. The same review says Breakdance is the simpler of Soflyy's builders and is designed for non-technical users.
The reader it fits is a freelancer, a small agency or a marketing team that already runs sites on WordPress and wants to design pages, headers, forms, popups and WooCommerce shops without hand-coding every layout. Pronto Marketing, an agency that builds and maintains WordPress sites, lists Breakdance as best for "Modern designs, flexible layouts" in its comparison table. Every fact below comes from a third-party page and is attributed to it.
What you build and how
Breakdance builds on top of WordPress, so what you make is a WordPress site: pages, templates, forms, popups and store pages that live on your own hosting. It is not a hosted service. A comparison page on lindo.ai makes the same point, noting that Breakdance needs WordPress hosting and plugin upkeep, and that for teams who need the WordPress plugin ecosystem or custom PHP, "Breakdance may still fit."
The editor is a drag-and-drop canvas. According to The Plus Addons, a template picker greets you when you create a new page, so you start from a layout or from scratch. The side panel sits on the left, the canvas on the right, and styling controls surface in context as you click elements. The review says the builder was made as one codebase, so global styles, the style pane and the typography panel behave the same way from one element to the next. Global colors, typography and spacing variables cascade through the whole site, and custom CSS is available at both element and global level. The same page says Breakdance is distributed directly from breakdance.com rather than the WordPress plugin repository, so updates are managed through the Breakdance dashboard.
Elements are the building blocks. The Plus Addons says the free version includes 80 elements and that Pro raises the count to 145, opening up the full template library, the form builder, the popup builder, dynamic data, complete WooCommerce integration and code customization. Gutenverse's comparison page puts the same split into a table: the free plan with 80 elements, a limited design library and basic WooCommerce, forms, popups and dynamic data; Pro with 145 elements, the full design library and full versions of each, plus import and export settings, custom fonts, class management and conditions. Gutenverse also says the free plan supports unlimited websites. An earlier Digisavvy review counted "over 130 elements" and said they "provide a good mix of utility and customizability."
For stores, The Plus Addons says Breakdance Pro ships 35+ WooCommerce elements, global product styles and a WooCommerce-aware theme builder, with checkout and cart elements built for conversion. Gold Penguin says the Gutenberg and WooCommerce integrations are both included in the Pro package. Instinctor's comparison page agrees on the practical result: the form builder is built in, and the WooCommerce elements let you style a store the way you want, with tidy output. It also marks the boundary. Breakdance designs the product page and the cart, but the store engine underneath is WooCommerce, and bookings, chat and deeper SEO each need their own plugin. Gold Penguin makes the SEO point too, saying that with Breakdance "you'll need a plugin or two."
Templates and design libraries help with speed. Gold Penguin says the Breakdance Design Library lets you copy and paste entire theme designs. Digisavvy says Breakdance provides "a nice collection of website layouts to get you inspired and tinkering right away," and calls the community BD Design Library a component collection that will "give you a head start for sure." Lindo's comparison table puts pre-built templates at about 50 and pre-built sections at 100+, and lists white-labeling for agencies as going through a third party; those are a competitor's counts rather than the vendor's.
Developers get specific attention. The Plus Addons names a PHP Code element, a Form Actions API, a Developer API and a Conditions API as native hooks for extending the builder, and calls the documentation "concise and practical." Breakdance AI, for generative content and design, is sold separately as an add-on rather than bundled into a plan, according to the same page. Digisavvy adds a performance note: Breakdance "loads assets intelligently and doesn’t blast its scripts on every single page." Gold Penguin says split testing needs a third-party WordPress plugin.
Publishing is the WordPress kind. Pages publish through your WordPress install, and the visitor sees an ordinary WordPress site.
Plans, prices and adoption, by source
Prices differ by source and date. The Plus Addons lists these 2026 tiers: Breakdance Pro for 1 site at $99.99 per year; Pro for unlimited sites at $199.99 per year, "regularly $399.99"; and Breakdance Agency for unlimited sites at $799.99 per year, adding reseller discounts and support for 5 team members. It says every paid plan includes a 60-day money-back guarantee and a price-lock clause, so a renewal does not rise while you stay subscribed. Older reviews show an earlier single plan: Gold Penguin and Digisavvy both give Pro at $149 a year. Pronto Marketing's table lists a single business website at about $99 a year, and Lindo's page lists Pro at $199 a year for 1 site. The Plus Addons figures are the most recent of these.
On adoption, Pronto Marketing's table puts Breakdance at about 200k downloads, 35K sites in BuiltWith and a Reddit community, r/BreakdanceWP, at 800 members, with 2022 as the initial release. Digisavvy, writing earlier, counted roughly 6k+ websites per BuiltWith and said the number was rising.
On support, The Plus Addons says Breakdance offers ticket support through a contact form, plus documentation, tutorials and an active Facebook group. It says response quality gets strong feedback, though wait times at peak periods can stretch to a few days because the team is small. Digisavvy also praises the active Facebook community. On the ecosystem, The Plus Addons says a search on WordPress.org returns only a handful of Breakdance-specific add-ons, such as Elements Hive and Fancy Buttons for Breakdance, and that with 145 elements in Pro many teams do not need third-party widgets. Gold Penguin, in its earlier review, said support exists but the product was "so early there's a lot of growing/improving to do."
Pronto Marketing's verdict is that Breakdance "sits in the middle with strong design capabilities." Digisavvy credits Louis Reingold and his team at Soflyy with putting in the work and expects the builder "only to get better."
Who it suits, and where it falls short
Breakdance suits an agency or freelancer who builds many WordPress sites and wants one coherent editor with a form builder, popups and WooCommerce styling inside it. The unlimited-site Pro and Agency tiers The Plus Addons lists matter most at that scale, and the developer APIs give a technical team room to add custom logic. It also suits a marketing team with a WordPress site that wants a consistent global style system across pages.
It is a weaker choice for a founder who wants a hosted, all-in-one tool. Instinctor's point stands: Breakdance lays out pages, and then you assemble the rest, with WooCommerce for a store, a plugin for bookings, another for chat and an SEO plugin. Its third-party add-on ecosystem is small, and AI features cost extra. Digisavvy, an experienced developer, found some layout settings sit behind too many clicks in the advanced panel. Most pages quoted here come from competitors or comparison sites, and their prices differ, so the free plan is the sensible first test of whether the editor fits how you work.
