What Frends is

Frends is a low-code integration platform (iPaaS) that its site describes as a European, AI-augmented integration platform. It is aimed at IT and integration teams in mid-sized and large organizations, with business users able to take part because the interface is visual. The company says it unifies "integration, process automation, API management and governed AI on a low-code platform, deployable in cloud, on-premises or hybrid environments, with compliance and control from day one."

The homepage says enterprises across 16 countries rely on Frends, and the explainer page adds "4300+ users across 16 countries," a "99 % customer retention rate" and a 4.5/5 rating on Gartner Peer Insights. The platform is sold as one product with "one UX, one security model and one audit trail," with "no stitching together separate tools for each layer of your architecture." The industries menu lists government and public sector, energy and utilities, manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, retail and higher education, and there are function pages for IT, finance and HR.

What you build and how

The core of the product is a process canvas built on BPMN, the standard flowchart notation for business processes. The homepage says "every AI decision is visible in the same BPMN canvas your team already uses", and the platform's own explainer describes a process builder where users design, test and deploy workflows visually, with drag-and-drop interfaces and reusable components. Frends says its low-code approach lets teams "connect systems and automate workflows in hours, not weeks."

Integration. The data and application integration side ships with "over 300 connectors". The homepage says you can "choose templates or customize tasks to solve any use case your business needs," and the capabilities menu has separate entries for Connectors and Tasks, Integration Templates and Developer Productivity. The applications menu names Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce, HubSpot and Oracle, and Frends is listed on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. For ERP work, the company names SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle and NetSuite as systems it connects to the surrounding partners and processes. For trading partners, EDI to ERP integration connects partners directly to ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics and Oracle "at a fixed cost, with full visibility, reusable templates and no vendor lock-in." For BizTalk users, the homepage says you can "reuse your existing code, extensions and artifacts." The use-case list covers ERP integration, EDI to ERP integration, legacy platform migration, BizTalk migration, SAP PI/PO migration, data and reporting automation, HR lifecycle automation, IT workflow automation, order to cash and procure to pay.

Workflow automation. Frends combines business process automation with integration. Its explainer contrasts this with robotic process automation, which mimics clicks on a user interface, and says BPA in Frends works at the system level instead. Long-running processes can pause, persist and resume workflows "that span hours, days, or weeks, with full visibility and reliable execution", which suits approval chains and anything waiting on an outside event. A Business Automation Portal also appears among the key capabilities.

BPM and process visibility. Because processes live on the BPMN canvas, the same diagram carries the logic and the monitoring. One customer quote on the homepage, from an enterprise applications architect, says that from day one Frends "gave us transparency. We could finally see how our processes were running, what was working, and where we needed to intervene."

API management. The platform includes an API gateway. Per the explainer, it handles rate limiting, access control and monitoring, so teams can "manage, monitor, and secure their APIs all in one place." The homepage pitches it as API creation, deployment and monitoring that prevents overloads.

AI. Three AI features are named. AI Workflow Management and the AI Connector embed AI steps directly into BPMN workflows, with system connectivity, governance and explainability described as built in. Enterprise MCP "turns any system, legacy ERP, custom database, mainframe, into a governed tool your AI can call, without re-engineering a single line of code." The homepage says your LLM of choice, "Claude, OpenAI, or your own," can talk to your systems with governance intact, "No re-engineering. No rebuilding. No extra cost." Frends Agents and local AI models can run in the cloud, fully on-premises or air-gapped.

Deployment. The homepage lists cloud, on-premises and hybrid deployment, and hybrid deployment is its own capability page. The company positions the on-premises and air-gapped options for private regulated industries and the public sector.

The evidence from the pages

Pricing. Plan names and prices sit on a separate pricing page; the homepage links it with "How much does it cost?" and the platform explainer says Frends stands out for its "transparent pricing." The header offers "Book a demo" and "Start tour now," and there is a log-in for existing customers. Professional services and support services are sold alongside the platform.

Compliance and sovereignty. The homepage states: "European vendor. CLOUD Act-free. GDPR-native and EU AI Act-ready by design." These are the company's own claims, and the page adds that the on-premises and air-gapped options mean "your data never leaves the network you control."

Customers. The homepage carries testimonials from named people, including a CIO at Munifin, a director of ICT architecture at Fazer, an IT applications manager at Bluefors, an IT manager at Braem, an integration developer at Visma Solutions, a CIO at Ljungström (an Arvos Group company) and an innovation manager at Österåker Municipality. A results section is headed "6,000 customers and proven ROI," and its example is Sandviken Energi, credited with "179 times faster processes," where a solution architect says real-time data "makes a huge difference." The Munifin CIO says they chose Frends "because of its promising roadmap, solid capabilities, and a pricing model that made sense." The Fazer director says Frends "enables us to reuse existing components across various processes, leading to significant resource savings." The Österåker quote says the team doesn't "need to write complex custom code or build every connector from scratch."

Content and events. The site also publishes trend articles on enterprise AI, including a note on a "State of Integration & AI 2026" benchmark that it calls Europe's first enterprise benchmark on integration, automation and AI.

Who it suits and who it does not

Frends fits an IT or enterprise team that wants one governed platform for integrations, APIs, long-running processes and AI, and that needs a choice between cloud and on-premises hosting. The European positioning, the CLOUD Act and GDPR claims and the air-gapped option make it relevant to public-sector and regulated buyers who care where data runs. Teams already thinking in BPMN will find the canvas familiar, and teams moving off an older integration product get a dedicated migration offer for BizTalk and SAP PI/PO.

It is a weaker match for a solo founder or a small team that wants to wire two SaaS apps together this afternoon. The site is written for enterprise buyers, and the entry path is a demo or a guided tour rather than a free plan. The process canvas and BPMN vocabulary assume some integration background, so non-technical builders will get the most from it working next to an IT team.
