What it is
Ethora is a chat and AI SDK company with a no-code AI agent builder in its AI SDK line. The builder page pitches it as a way to "build a smart AI agent for your business in minutes and without writing a single line of code," through a drag-and-drop builder that non-technical teams can use "to design, train, and deploy conversational AI across web and mobile apps." The home page describes the wider product as one SDK for web, iOS and Android chat, with AI agents and RAG built in. It is written for product teams that want chat inside an app, and for business teams that want a chatbot trained on their own content.
What you build and how
The editor. The builder page lists 3 pieces: a flowchart-style conversation designer, built-in intent recognition and response training, and pre-built templates for quick setup. You lay out the conversation as a flow, teach the agent how to respond to what customers ask, and start from a template if you prefer. Ethora says a convenient toolset paired with an LLM gives you control over chatbot creation: "set up logic, train AI on your data, and get a context-aware assistant in a few clicks."
Templates. The FAQ names the ready-made use cases: a customer service assistant, a lead qualification bot, an HR helpdesk chatbot and industry-specific FAQ bots, all customizable inside the builder.
Training on your content. This is the data layer. The page says you can upload documents, connect your website or import a knowledge base, and the AI then learns from that content to give personalized, on-brand answers. The home page's FAQ adds that inside the admin panel you set up a prompt, add documents or crawl your website, so the agent knows your products and services. The AI SDK menu has matching entries: a Business Website Crawler that indexes your site for RAG context, and a Documents Indexer, which turns documents into AI knowledge. The featured promise is "Crawl your site, index your docs, and ship an AI agent: no code required," with 3 bullets: crawl any website, index documents, embed anywhere.
Where the agent lives. The page says you can embed an agent as a widget on any website, and the menu adds an embeddable AI agent widget and a WordPress AI Agent Plugin described as a no-code agent for WordPress. For deeper work there is an AI Chat Bots and Agents SDK for Python and Node.js, an MCP server, and a self-hosted LLM server, described as a private LLM on AWS or on-prem.
Languages, analytics and people. You can build a multilingual chatbot, the FAQ says, and built-in analytics let you track user interactions, measure effectiveness and optimize conversation flows. When a customer needs a person, the agent can hand over to human support.
The chat layer around it. Because Ethora is an SDK company first, the agent can sit inside a full chat product. The menu lists native chat SDKs for Android (Kotlin and Java) and iOS (Swift), React.js and web, React Native, React UI kits, an NPM chat component, a chat widget for websites and a voice chat SDK. The home page FAQ lists 3 ways to add chat: embed the chat widget, publish a template mobile or web app through the admin panel, or integrate deeper with the SDK components. A demo on the home page shows 2 devices in one conversation, with the question "Can AI draft our replies?" answered "Yes. Agents and RAG built in."
One real deployment. The page describes a healthcare case with Atom Advantage: integration into a caseworkers' web portal, a white-labeled mobile app for chat and a health documents wallet for injured workers, and instant messaging between caseworkers and injured workers.
The evidence from the pages
Plans. The page ends with "Free tier available," "Enterprise SLA" and "No vendor lock-in." The home FAQ says you can keep running live projects on the Free plan if they are small or hobby projects under 1,000 monthly active users with no particular SLA demands. Paid plans are called "really affordable," and a self-hosted option and perpetual license plans exist. The pages here show no prices.
Onboarding. The home page promises full access for free, a 15-minute call that is "not a pitch," and no credit card. The FAQ says the call is with the Ethora founder, that you get full free access the moment you book, and that you can skip the call and sign up directly.
Open source and hosting. All front-end code is open source, the FAQ says: the React Native mobile app for iOS and Android, the React.js web app, the NPM chat component, the WordPress plugin, the JavaScript chat widget and the AI chat bots, with a GitHub repository linked. The backend is closed source by default, but self-hosted and perpetual license options include backend sources for customers who need deep server-side customization. You can run Ethora in its cloud or on your own servers or private cloud for control over data residency, compliance or customization, and the menu lists a self-hosted chat server for AWS or on-prem.
Compliance. The self-hosted chat server entry carries HIPAA, SOC 2 and GDPR labels, and the FAQ answers "Yes" to whether Ethora is GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and SOC2 compliant. The pages here do not say what each standard covers, so ask for the scope.
Industries. The verticals menu names finance, healthcare ("HIPAA-ready patient messaging"), insurance, gaming, live streaming, travel, education and marketplaces.
Who it suits and who it does not
Ethora suits a team that wants a trained website or knowledge-base agent today and might want native chat in its own app later, since both come from one vendor. It also suits regulated teams that need the option to self-host, and developers who value open-source front ends. The free tier, with the 1,000 monthly active user ceiling, is enough to prototype.
The caveats: the builder page is brief on the flowchart editor's depth, so check how far the designer goes with branching before you commit. Ethora is chiefly an SDK platform, so a business user who only wants a chatbot will meet a lot of developer vocabulary. And paid pricing is not published on these pages.
