What the product is

Flip is an AI employee experience platform designed for frontline and deskless workers: the 2.7 billion workers the company says have no email, desk, or laptop. The FAQ names retail, manufacturing, logistics, food service, and healthcare as the sectors it serves. The platform combines internal communications, HR self-service, AI workflows, identity management, and an AI app builder called Flip Fusion into a single mobile app. It targets enterprises with large workforces where most or all employees lack traditional office infrastructure and need to access company systems, answer questions, and run processes from their phones.

What you build and how

Flip operates as an employee experience platform, not just a chat tool. The core product includes 6 modules: the AI Employee App (one branded app for the entire workforce), an AI-native Intranet (company knowledge that is stuck in folders and people's heads brought into searchable form), an HR Portal (payslips, time-off requests, onboarding from any phone in under a minute), Frontline Identity (secure, one-touch access to all tools without a separate identity provider or multiple passwords), an AI App Builder called Flip Fusion, and AI Workflows for automating role-aware processes.

Flip Fusion is the AI app builder. You describe the app you need in plain language, and Fusion builds it directly into the Flip platform. The German guide describes the result as distributed by role, connected to your HR system, GDPR-compliant (DSGVO-konform), and offline-capable. Access is handled through Frontline Identity, so employees can reach the app from their phones with just a Passkey or an invitation code, even if they have no company email or PC. The guide argues an app becomes useful when it also sets processes in motion, so the workflow builder sits alongside it. Its example: a shift leader describes a protocol for safety incidents and publishes it with one click, and minutes later the team reports incidents from their own phones while each report is forwarded automatically to the responsible person.

The AI Workflows component lets you build automated, role-aware processes in minutes. The German guide says the workflow builder adds automated steps such as approvals and escalations to a finished app. Flip's FAQ also describes workflows that are triggered in chat, and an AI Agent Gateway for connecting external tools like SAP, Jira, and Salesforce.

Flip's approach to frontline adoption is built-in. Traditional intranets are built for desk employees with corporate email and laptops. Flip works offline, requires no email to access, and is designed for people with three minutes between shifts, not three hours at a desk. The platform handles identity through Frontline Identity, avoiding the need for multiple passwords or external identity providers. The app is mobile-first and includes communications (messages actually reach frontline teams), HR tools (payslips, shifts, onboarding, leave requests), and operations (fewer paper forms, faster decisions).

Flip supports team structure. Communications work across head office to shop floor. HR teams reduce admin work and reach employees who lack email. Operations teams move from paper forms to digital processes. IT teams manage one platform without MDM consent. The company names customers including Bosch (400,000+ employees), REWE (150,000 users across 3,800 markets), KFC Queensway Europe, PENNY, MAHLE, and Safestore. The home page also says Flip works with the tools you already have, in days rather than months.

The evidence from the pages

The home page opens with "2.7 billion workers - Zero inboxes" and says "Your frontline doesn't have a company email. They have a phone, three minutes between shifts, and a WhatsApp group holding everything together."

The company describes its platform: "Flip is an AI employee experience platform for frontline and deskless workers. It combines internal communications, HR self-service, AI workflows, and identity management in a single mobile app. It is designed for employees who don't have a company email address, a desktop PC, or reliable access to traditional enterprise tools."

On the AI app builder, the German blog page states: "Sie beschreiben die App, die Sie brauchen, in normaler Sprache, und Fusion baut sie direkt in Flip" (You describe the app you need in plain language, and Fusion builds it directly in Flip). The English site adds: "Business teams can build complete AI-powered apps and workflows without writing a single line of code." It also states: "AI Workflows. Create automated, role-aware processes in minutes. No technical skills needed."

The home page describes Frontline Identity this way: "Give every frontline worker secure, one-touch access to all the tools they need without a separate identity provider or six different passwords."

On access, the German guide says Frontline Identity lets "Mitarbeitende ohne Firmen-E-Mail und ohne PC die App sofort per Passkey oder Einladungscode erreichen" (employees without a company email and without a PC reach the app immediately with a passkey or invitation code). The English FAQ adds that Flip "works offline, requires no email address to access."

The platform differs from traditional intranets: "Traditional intranets are built for desk-based employees with corporate email accounts and laptops. Flip is built mobile-first for deskless workers. It works offline, requires no email address to access, and is designed for people with three minutes between shifts, not three hours at a desk."

Customer scale is stated: "More than 1000 brands trust our platform globally" and "Customers include Bosch (400,000+ employees), REWE (150,000 users across 3,800 markets), KFC Queensway Europe, PENNY, MAHLE, and Safestore."

One customer adoption: "Safestore rolled out Flip across 200 stores in 6 countries in 6 weeks. Ben & Jerry's ANZ reached 70% adoption within 3 days of launch."

The AI layer is described: "Flip's AI layer includes an AI knowledge assistant (Ask AI), AI-powered workflow automation, the Flip Fusion AI app builder, and the AI Agent Gateway for connecting external tools like SAP, Jira, and Salesforce. Workers can ask questions in natural language and get instant, role-aware answers, without leaving the app."

The platform has been adopted in place of previous systems: "Bosch replaced physical factory information kiosks with Flip. At elasto, the company's last intranet post was published on 5 August 2021. The platform was abandoned entirely in favor of Flip."

Deployment speed is emphasized: "Bring AI to all of your employees in 30 days."

On what makes Flip unique for GDPR and frontline requirements, the German page states: "In DACH ist die schönste App ohne Datenschutz wertlos" (in DACH, the most beautiful app without data protection is worthless). (those processing employee data need clear answers on three questions: where the data is hosted, who has access, how models, logs, and prompts can be audited).

Who it suits and who it does not

Flip fits enterprises with large workforces of deskless workers: retail chains, manufacturing plants, logistics companies, hospitals, and food service operations where systems have to be mobile-first and work offline. It works well for organizations that need to reach every employee with company knowledge, HR services, and automated workflows, not just desk workers. The German guide pitches it at DACH companies that need answers on data hosting, access, and auditability, and says Fusion apps are GDPR-compliant.

Flip is a weaker fit if your workforce is primarily desk-based with email and laptops. Pricing is not self-serve: the company says it will prepare an individual quote based on your needs. If your needs are simple (a static intranet, basic communications), the full platform adds more than you need. The platform's strength is enabling frontline teams to use digital tools they previously could not access; that value is lost if your teams are already digital-native.
