What it is

FreeWebToApk is a browser-based converter that turns a website, a ZIP of site files or a single HTML page into a signed Android APK, plus the AAB (Android App Bundle) format Google Play asks for. The footer credits the product to SmartrixLabs. It also runs a PWA Builder, still marked Beta, that produces an installable Progressive Web App and a Trusted Web Activity (TWA) APK from the same kind of input.

The reader it fits is a site owner, developer or agency that already has a website, a static build or a small web game, and wants a Play-ready Android package without installing tools. The company says building the APK and AAB on its site is free and unlimited, with no signup and no watermark from it.

What you build and how

There are three inputs. The first is a live website address: "Wrap any address, from a WordPress blog to a Shopify store. Updates to your site show up in the app without a new build." The second is a ZIP of your site with an index.html in it. For React, Vite or anything with a build step you zip the built dist folder, and the site is bundled into the app so it opens instantly and works offline. The third is a single HTML page, such as a game, calculator or landing page, uploaded as a file or pasted as code.

The builder walks you through three steps. You choose what the app shows, you make it yours with a name, icon, splash screen and colors (you can also switch on ads, push notifications or a side menu), then you download. The APK installs on a phone for testing, and the AAB goes to Google Play, with a publishing guide covering the listing. Each package name is always signed with the same key, so building again later installs as an update rather than a new app.

The PWA Builder is a five step form: website URL and app details, icon and splash, push and chat, caching, then build. The first step takes an app name of up to 30 characters, a short home screen name of up to 12 characters, an optional description and a package name generated from the URL. The package it produces contains a manifest.json, a service worker, all icon sizes from 72px to 512px, a signed APK, a signed AAB and the asset links file that Google needs to verify the domain. The service worker offers 3 caching strategies, and an offline fallback page is included. Push notifications go through OneSignal, and live chat through Tawk.to. The page says builds run in the browser. For comparison, the site's own table lists PWABuilder as free and Progressier at $49 a month.

Bundled pages from a ZIP or HTML file are encrypted inside the APK and AAB, so opening the file as a ZIP shows scrambled data instead of your code. The company is plain about the limit: it stops casual copying, but like any app that has to run its own code, it is not unbreakable.

The site also builds a toolbox around the package. The Build group covers Website to APK and AAB, the PWA Builder and an HTML to APK tool for one page bundled for offline use. A Design group covers an Icon Resizer that outputs every Android size in one ZIP, a Feature Graphic Maker for the 1024x500 banner at the top of a Play listing, Screenshot Mockups in phone frames with captions, a promo video and GIF maker that exports MP4, and a color palette tool that pulls brand colors from your logo. A Publish group offers a Listing Preview, Description Templates with character limits and a policy check, a Play Listing Checklist saved per app, and a QR code generator that exports PNG or SVG.

There are step by step guides by platform for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Blogger, GoDaddy, Bubble, Google Sites, Framer and HTML5 games. For AI-built apps the guides cover Lovable, Bolt.new, v0, Replit, Google AI Studio and Base44.

Finally there is AppMint, an Android app for people with no website yet. You describe the app in plain words, such as "A booking app for my salon", and it builds a React app, checks it on your phone and ships it as an APK and a live website. One tap publishes it at yourname.freewebtoapk.com with HTTPS. The backend option uses your own Supabase project for sign-ups, Google login, a database and uploads, and AppMint can also turn documents, audio, video and images into apps. AppMint needs an internet connection to build.

Evidence from the pages

The cost story is consistent across the pages. The FAQ says building on the site is free and unlimited, with no signup and no watermark from the company, and that the site shows ads to pay for itself while the app you build carries no ads from it. The PWA page repeats "100% free with no hidden costs or limitations."

AppMint has its own terms. The page says every feature of the AppMint app is free for everyone: unlimited APKs and Play-ready AABs, AdMob, in-app selling, push notifications, Remote Update for unlimited apps, your own signing key and native plugins. A few ads inside AppMint keep it running. AI builds pay as you go with Mints from $1. Two optional purchases exist: Remove Ads at $2 one-time, and Support Development at $10 a year, which adds custom bug fixing for your apps, feature requests and a priority support channel, cancelable in Google Play. The page shows AppMint at 4.5 stars on Google Play.

The site publishes no company size, no uptime or support commitment and no compliance claims. Help comes through docs, a publishing guide, a news section, guides, FAQs and a contact page. It also lists a Buy and Sell Apps section, and invites users who made a tutorial to send it in for a featured link.

Who it suits

It suits a site owner or developer who wants a Play-ready APK and AAB with no budget, and a developer who has a React or Vite build or a small HTML game and wants it packaged to run offline. Agencies can reuse the same flow across client sites, since the company says builds are unlimited. The PWA route suits someone who would rather offer an installable web app, with push through OneSignal and chat through Tawk.to, than go through a store.

The limits are those of the approach. A wrapped website behaves like the website, so heavy native features are not the point here. Revenue comes from ads on the site and in AppMint, so expect ads while you build, and the PWA builder is labeled Beta. A team that needs a support commitment or a stated security posture will find neither on these pages.
