What It Is

AppPresser is a mobile app builder for WordPress sites. Its homepage headline is "Build Mobile Apps for WordPress," and it describes the product as "an app builder that specializes in integrating WordPress," for iOS and Android apps that draw on a WordPress site. It is written for site owners, freelancers and agencies who need a mobile app for a business, a client, a school, a church, an event, a store or a community, and who know WordPress but not mobile development. The homepage puts it in one line: AppPresser "is for anyone who needs an app for their business, or for those working with clients."

The company states its focus plainly: "We are different because we specialize in WordPress. In fact, that's all we do." The product includes "several WordPress plugins and a theme that perform special functions like integration with your favorite custom plugins." The homepage's 3 promises are that you can get your business into the app stores affordably, use your WordPress content, and need no "mobile app" skills. It frames the payoff as the feeling of "Whoa, I just made an app!"

What You Build and How

The homepage compares the work to running a site: "Building an app is like building a WordPress site. Add pages, create menus, and customize the design." AppPresser uses components to add your content, and the company points to its Features page for the full list. It also says that "if you can setup a WordPress site, you can build an AppPresser app," and that no mobile app development experience is needed.

Your WordPress site is the data layer. The sales pitch is "Use your WordPress content," so posts and pages that already live on the site feed the app. A user quoted on the homepage, Kenny Petrowski, describes the integration with WordPress as using "both API lists and the iframe approach," so a screen can either list WordPress content natively or show a page inside the app. The same user mentions that he customized the look and feel of the app using CSS, which is useful for a web designer who wants control.

Offline and notifications. The same testimonial praises "caching for offline support" and "the integrated push notifications." The navigation also gives push notifications their own product page, which marks them as a core part of the offer.

Plugin-specific app types. The menu and the "What Type of Apps Can I Build?" section name the kinds of site the product is built around. The homepage says it allows you to build an app "from any WordPress website," with these examples:

  • WooCommerce apps, for stores
  • Membership apps, for gated content and member sites
  • BuddyPress apps and a BuddyBoss app, for communities
  • LearnDash apps, for online courses
  • Podcast apps, for publishers and podcasters
  • Nonprofit apps, plus school, church and civic apps

The company says AppPresser integrates "the most WordPress features in a single app, like podcasts, WooCommerce, LearnDash, membership, and more." It also claims that it gives "the most customization options" and "more plugin integrations" than other builders. These are the company's own comparisons, and a buyer should test them against a specific plugin list.

Who builds with it. The homepage names 3 groups: customers building an app for themselves, freelancers, and agencies building apps for clients. Named customers include artofmanliness.com, the podcast Die Friedliche Geburt, the event Affiliate Summit, South Tech High School, the membership site Connected PE and the WooCommerce store Ole Florida Fly Shop. 3 example apps are shown under their own names: Ole Florida Fly Shop, Die Friedliche Geburt and Art of Manliness. The homepage says "AppPresser apps get great reviews on the app store."

Services beyond the builder. The navigation lists Custom Development, Premium Support, Capabilities and a Request a Quote page under Services, so the company also builds apps for you: "hire the AppPresser development team to build custom mobile apps for you." The Resources menu adds Examples, Agencies, an "AppPresser vs. Alternatives" page, Documentation and a Blog. Customers log in to a "My AppPresser Dashboard" to get started.

Dedicated pages per app type. The Product menu gives Push Notifications, Membership Apps, WooCommerce Apps, BuddyPress Apps, LearnDash Apps, Podcast Apps, Nonprofit Apps and School Apps their own pages, and the footer adds Church Apps and the BuddyBoss App. For a buyer, that is a quick way to check whether the product has a page for your kind of site before you read anything else. The "What Type of Apps Can I Build?" grid adds a Publishing and Media category next to WooCommerce, BuddyPress, LearnDash, membership, nonprofit and civic apps, the slot for publishers such as artofmanliness.com.

Testing and versions. One testimonial, from Joel Rendall, thanks the team for help "getting our app ready for on-device testing" and says "Version 4 working great," so on-device testing is part of the path to a release.

The Evidence From the Page

  • Pricing. The homepage has "View Pricing" buttons and a Pricing menu item, but its text states no price, plan name, trial term or usage limit. The pitch is that you can "Get your business in the app stores affordably."
  • Customer proof. The homepage carries 4 testimonials. Justin Ferriman, founder of LearnDash, says customers love "a cost-effective way to create and control their very own impressive online course mobile apps." A customer named Rob says the tool is for "those of us who don't know how to code it from scratch, but do know WordPress," and that AppPresser AppPresser "really helped us develop the app we'd always wanted to make but didn't have the skills to do so or the funds to afford before."
  • Support. The company claims "Great Support" and says its team is "responsive and ready to help when you need us." Premium Support is a listed service.
  • Team. The company says its team "has spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours working on mobile apps and WordPress."
  • Reviews. The homepage embeds a video review by Brett McKay, links more customer reviews, and points to the Art of Manliness and Die Friedliche Geburt apps on its examples page. The quote from Rob is credited to Trinity Transformation.

Who It Suits and Who It Does Not

AppPresser fits a WordPress owner who wants a store, course, membership, podcast or community app and values the plugin-specific support above a generic wrapper. It also fits freelancers and agencies that already sell WordPress work and want an app to add to a client package, since the page lists agencies as a user group and has an Agencies page.

A few cautions follow from the page itself. The product is WordPress only, so a site on another platform has no route in. The product includes WordPress plugins and a theme that work with your site, which adds a moving part to it. A team that wants a fully managed build would use the custom development and premium support services, which are quoted through a Request a Quote page.
