What it is

Client Portal Builder is an app for monday.com made by Gorilla Apps. It lets a team that runs its work in monday.com give clients, customers or partners a dedicated place to follow that work, without inviting them into the workspace itself. The company describes it as a way to "create dedicated client experiences around the projects, files and workflows you manage in monday.com" and to give every client "one place to follow progress, exchange information and take action."

It is a portal builder in the narrow sense. It does not replace monday.com, and it is not a general website or app builder. Your team keeps managing projects, files, CRM data and other processes in monday.com, and the portal is the outward-facing layer on top. The company says agencies, consultants, project teams and service providers are the usual users. Gorilla Apps also sells other monday.com apps, so this entry covers only the client portal product.

What you build and how

The thing you build is a branded portal for external stakeholders, connected to your monday.com boards. The product page lists three promises in short form: share monday.com data without workspace access, control exactly what each client can see, and create a branded client experience. In practice that means you decide which projects, files, updates and information a given client gets, and the client sees only that slice. The company says portals can be "tailored" to the client rather than mirroring a whole board.

Access works through a normal login. According to the page's FAQ, clients sign in to a portal built with Client Portal Builder using credentials or Google authentication, "without needing a monday.com user account or seat." That matters for cost and for tidiness: no extra seats on your monday.com plan, and no client wandering through internal boards. A marketplace reviewer quoted on the page says that after trying several portal solutions, this was "the only one that had the one-to-one client option," which suggests the one-portal-per-client setup is a real selling point for small service firms.

The use cases the company names map to the portal category in plain terms. A customer portal for agencies is described as a place where the agency team can "share deliverables, collect feedback, and keep clients updated." A client onboarding portal connected directly to monday.com is listed as its own solution, and so is sharing project updates with clients. For accountants, consultants, real estate teams and architects the company runs separate solution pages, each built around the same product. The company also says clients can find information, submit requests and manage their part of the workflow while your team keeps working in monday.com.

There is no separate data layer to set up. The data is whatever lives in your monday.com boards, so the portal inherits the structure you already have. Because the app is built as a monday.com marketplace app, billing runs through monday.com, and the company says payments and invoicing are processed directly between your organization and the monday.com marketplace team.

For learning and rollout, the site offers a live demo, documentation with getting started guides, user guides and video tutorials, and a "What's new" link for the latest features. It also offers a one-minute fit check that gives a recommendation without asking for your email address, and a payback estimator that compares time saved against the subscription cost. For monday.com partners who build portals for their own customers, the site invites you to work closely with the Gorilla Apps team during implementations.

The company's blog explains where it sits in the monday.com landscape. One article states that monday.com has a Customer Portal for monday service, and that for broader external client access to projects, files and board data, Client Portal Builder "may be the better fit." Another compares it to Softr, saying both can build client portals on top of monday.com and that they differ in setup, flexibility, client access, communication, automations and pricing. A third covers the built-in ways to share boards with external users and guests.

The facts and the offer

The pricing page describes one plan that "includes all Client Portal Builder features for your entire monday.com account." There are two ways to pay. Annual billing is $150 per month, billed as $1,800 a year, which the page says saves $600 per year. Monthly billing is $200 per month and can be canceled before the next billing period starts. The page headline offers to "save 25% annually or stay flexible month to month."

New customers can try it free for 14 days, and the page says you receive a full refund if you cancel within 30 days. There is no separate free plan described; the 14 days is a trial.

The listing on the product page shows 675 installs and a 5.0 rating, the same figures shown on the company's home page. The home page also says that Gorilla Apps has "2,000+ installs across monday.com workspaces worldwide" for its apps as a whole, and lists the installs for its other products, for example 1,098 for Spreadsheet Gorilla and 310 for Board to Website Widget. Those are the company's own counts.

Customer feedback on the page is positive and specific in places. One customer says the portal gives clients "a much cleaner and easier way to view our data without navigating the full monday.com workspace." Another says building in the product "has been genuinely straightforward" and that "the setup and workflow are intuitive and smooth." Several quotes praise the support team, and a consultant for monday.com says the communication is "responsive and transparent." These are testimonials the company chose to display, and the page labels them as marketplace reviews or customer feedback.

The company's site also lists sibling monday.com apps: Spreadsheet Gorilla for scheduled Excel reports, Exported Excel Cleaner for tidying board exports, and Board to Website Widget for embedding boards on a website. It also lists Blog Themes for Confluence, built for K15t Scroll Sites. They are separate products with their own listings.

Who it suits and who it does not

This is a fit for a service business that already lives in monday.com and wants clients to see progress without buying them seats. An agency, a consultancy sharing deliverables, or an accounting practice collecting documents would recognize the setup quickly, since the company builds solution pages for exactly those groups. A monday.com partner who delivers portals to customers also has a clear route to support.

Pricing is the first thing to weigh. At $150 a month on annual billing, or $200 month to month, with one plan covering the whole account, it is a flat fee rather than a per-client one. A team with only two or three clients might find that heavy, while a team with many clients may find it easy to justify. The payback estimator on the site exists for that reason.

The second limit is scope. The portal exposes monday.com data and nothing else, so a team on another work management tool has no use for it, and a team that wants a public site or a general app with its own database should look at a general builder. The company's own comparison with Softr shows it sees those as different jobs.
