What Forj is
Forj is a hosted platform for associations and professional networks that want an online community, a learning management system and member analytics in one place. Its site says "Forj is purpose-built for associations and professional networks", and its about page describes "deep expertise in association e-learning, virtual events and online communities". It is a configured product sold through demos, not a self-serve builder for a solo creator.
The Our Story section says Forj was formed in 2020, that in January 2023 Forj and Web Courseworks merged, and that a few months later the company acquired Mobilize, which it calls a community platform. It adds that the foundation of its technology has supported an online community of HR professionals for over a decade. The LMS page says Forj is "Trusted by 300+ organizations" and that Talented Learning recognized it as a Top 10 LMS.
The reader it serves is an association or membership organization with staff: an education director building credentialed courses, a community manager running discussions and chapters, and an executive team that wants to show the board how community and learning drive renewals.
What you build and how
You do not code anything, and you do not start from a blank canvas. Forj is a configured product with named parts, listed under Platform: Forj Connect for "peer-to-peer and group communications", Forj Learn for "continuing education, certification, and social learning", and Journey by Forj, which the menu says brings the community and learning experience together. Forj Analyze supplies the analytics inside both.
Forj Connect, the community. The community page describes spaces where professionals "connect, learn from each other, and advance their careers". Members take part through posts, polls and events, and the site credits "AI-powered group recommendations" with steering each member to the right spaces. Further tools include a member-led knowledge hub of member and expert resources, member-led Q&A, searchable member directories with matchmaking for mentors and collaborators, mentorship pathways, badges and recognition, and job and volunteer postings. Associations get dedicated spaces for chapters, committees and interest groups, full branding with custom logos, colors and registration flows, and "AI-powered moderation to maintain productive, respectful conversations". The page says Connect scales "from 500 to 50,000+ members". Events sit inside the community too: the FAQ says members register for events, attend sessions, continue conversations in dedicated spaces and access recordings.
Forj Learn, the courses. This is why Forj is also filed under online courses. The LMS page lists AI-powered recommendations, streaming-like catalog search, drag-and-drop course building, embedded SCORM and multimedia learning, and live, on-demand and hybrid courses. Cohort learning and built-in messaging keep learners talking to instructors and each other. For continuing education it tracks CE credits, hours and requirements, delivers certificates automatically or manually, keeps digital transcripts members can use throughout their careers, and supports "advanced credit eligibility and conditional award logic". Pricing for courses can be tiered for members, non-members and partners, and courses can be bundled into certification programs. The LMS FAQ says Forj Learn has "an out-of-the-box integration with Stripe" and can work with your own ecommerce provider for checkout. Content types it names include video courses, live webinars, interactive assessments, discussion forums, podcasts, PDFs and virtual event recordings. When Learn is paired with Connect, members are guided into relevant groups after a course, which the site describes as "turning a finished course into an ongoing conversation".
Forj Analyze, the data. Dashboards show completion rates, engagement trends, member progress, revenue and enrollment. On the community side, Analyze shows which topics spark conversation and who the most active contributors are, with sharing options for executives and the board. The LMS page adds that "AI summarizes quiz results and survey feedback into clear action items". A Forj guide says Analyze shows "which members are ready for a new credential and which are at risk of drifting away".
Mobile. Connect is fully mobile-responsive, and the Forj mobile app is available on Android and iOS, in "fully branded or out-of-the-box options", with a unified sign-in via SSO and push notifications. When a member taps learning content in the app, it opens in the mobile web browser.
Integrations. The company calls Forj "an API-first platform" with "tailored integrations to industry-leading solutions". The integrations page lists "standardized, self-serve integrations that support major SSO providers out of the box", and both product pages promise "Pre-built AMS integrations" and "Enterprise-grade SSO and open API". The community FAQ says the integration architecture "syncs member data automatically" and eliminates duplicate entry. The LMS FAQ explains how that works with an AMS: members sign in once through single sign-on for both systems, profile changes sync, and completed courses, activities and earned credits can be written back to the AMS. Integration work follows a discover, design and deliver process.
What the pages say about plans and numbers
The site publishes no prices; plans are discussed through "Request a Demo". The LMS page says the company includes "the strategy, content, and implementation to launch and scale, without user limits or hidden hurdles", covering full implementation support, learning strategy, event support, analytics reporting and consulting, and instructional design services. The LMS page says "some associations are up and running in as little as two weeks", with a dedicated team guiding setup, data migration, staff training and member activation. After launch, client success and client services teams provide ongoing training, regular check-ins, platform updates and community strategy support.
On security, the community FAQ says "Forj provides enterprise-grade security with role-based access controls, data encryption, regular audits, and compliance with privacy regulations", backed by security documentation and a dedicated support team.
On results, the community page says members who engage 3 to 4 or more times a month "report an 89.8% renewal intention". Case studies cover AWHONN, a community for women's health professionals; ICBA, which the site says built a 5,000-member digital community in 2 years; and MAASE, which joined community and learning for special education leaders.
Who it suits and who it does not
Forj suits a professional association, trade body or credentialing organization that already runs an AMS and wants community and CE learning beside it, with member data in sync and analytics that tie engagement to renewals. A team that has staff time for a guided rollout, and values instructional design help, matches how the product is sold.
It suits a solo creator, a small paid group or a first community experiment less well. Everything starts with a demo and a managed implementation, and there is no published price for a quick comparison.
