Promptly is a no-code platform for building AI-powered web apps, chatbots, Slack apps and Discord bots. Its FAQ answers "What can I build with Promptly" in exactly those terms, and adds that you can power these applications with your own data, embed them in a website or integrate them into Slack workspaces and Discord servers. The enterprise page pitches it as a way to build generative AI agents, applications and chatbots that integrate your own data and GPT-powered models without any coding experience, for developers and non-developers alike. It is aimed at sales, marketing, HR and engineering teams that want internal AI tools, and at builders who want to ship a chatbot without writing code.

What you build and how

An app in Promptly is built in 3 steps. First you configure it: depending on the use case, you pick an app type or a template, provide the input and configuration the app needs, and choose how the output is rendered. Then you add your data. Then you save and publish. That sequence covers both categories this entry sits in. As a chatbot builder, you attach data and publish a chat widget. As an AI app builder, you chain models and shape the input and output of a small web app.

The data layer is a set of sources you attach. The pages list files, website URLs, sitemaps, YouTube links, Google Drive and Notion exports, with PDFs, PowerPoint files and audio among the file types, and say "Attach these data sources to your app in the app builder". Website data can be imported from a URL or a sitemap.xml, audio files can serve as a data source, and YouTube URLs let you build apps on video content. The app then answers from your material instead of only from a model's general knowledge.

Models are a choice. The platform page says Promptly supports all major model providers, naming OpenAI, Cohere, Stability AI and Hugging Face, and a banner announces that Google PaLM models are available. The feature is called Model Chaining: you chain models from major providers in a single app, and processors add what the company calls "high level functionality". The FAQ's own examples range from a GPT-powered chatbot for a website to Stable Diffusion generating images in a Discord server.

Templates show the range. The menus list use cases such as an AI SDR that personalizes outreach messages using LinkedIn activity, robotic process automation with vision-based models, a marketing content generator, a Data Analyst Agent that connects to a database and returns insights as text and graphs from natural language, a Research Assistant that researches topics on the internet and generates reports, and a Blog Generator for SEO-optimized content. For HR, the company describes support chatbot templates and HR documents and policies turned into chatbots reachable through Slack, Discord and other channels, so employees ask a question instead of searching a policy.

Publishing offers 3 routes. You can open the published app from its dedicated app page, embed it in a website with the embed code, or call it from your own application through the API. The FAQ describes the embed step: click "Embed on your Website" on the App Editor page, copy the code into your page, and add your website to the allowed domains in the app's configuration to restrict where the app can be embedded. The chatbot's look and feel can be customized to match your website, including a logo for the bot. For Slack and Discord, the pages describe GPT-based Slack apps and Discord bots backed by your data, and the HR page shows Discord, Twilio, Slack and LinkedIn among the integration logos.

The API is a real part of the product. The FAQ says Promptly provides APIs to manage data, run endpoints and run the apps, and a streaming option for endpoint and app APIs lets you build AI applications with rich UX. Documentation is at docs.trypromptly.com.

Collaboration is built in. Apps can be shared publicly or restricted to certain individuals through a granular permission model, with viewer and collaborator roles so several people can build an app together. Privately shared apps can require login, and organization-level sharing comes with the Enterprise plan.

Plans, credits and security

The pricing table on the home page lists 3 plans. Free is $0 with no credit card required: 10 apps, 1 private app, 1M characters of storage, 1000 credits (one time) and community support. Pro is $99.99 a month or $999 a year, which the yearly toggle marks as a 17% saving: 100 apps, 10 private apps, 100M characters of storage, 13,000 credits and basic support. Enterprise is custom pricing through sales, with unlimited apps, unlimited private apps, usage-based character storage, unlimited requests, dedicated support and white-glove service.

Credits are the currency used up when an app runs. The FAQ says the platform deducts credits depending on the operation, so an app that calls a GPT-4 model uses more credits than one that uses a GPT-3.5 model.

The Enterprise offering adds a self-hosted vector database option, which the company says keeps your data from leaving your cloud, shared data and apps across the organization, and org management tools to control app visibility, set allowed model providers and monitor platform usage. The enterprise page states that Promptly is SOC 2 Type 2 certified.

2 customer stories carry the evidence. Coursera, in the company's words, uses Promptly to quickly build generative AI apps to scale internal operations; the story describes giving the sales team rapid access to accurate information for customer inquiries and streamlining HR communications, and quotes Coursera saying that building custom chatbots on Promptly "has streamlined our workflows". Kiteworks used a custom app to localize its long blog posts for global markets after traditional translation services and existing LLMs fell short on cost, time or context window size, and the site headline says Kiteworks "saves 90% time" on those translations.

Who it suits and who it does not

Promptly suits an operations, HR or content team that has documents, URLs or Notion pages and wants an internal assistant, a Slack bot or a small AI tool built quickly. A founder can start on the free tier with 10 apps before paying, and developers get an API with streaming when the finished app needs to sit inside another product. Enterprises get SOC 2 Type 2, org-level controls and a self-hosted vector database.

The caveats are about metering and scope. Credits vary by model, so heavy use of larger models drains the Pro plan's 13,000 credits faster, and the free tier's 1000 credits are a one-time allowance rather than a monthly refill. Promptly is built around AI apps and bots, so a team that wants a general database-backed app builder or a form tool will find the scope narrower than it needs.
