What it is

Chat Data is a no-code AI chatbot and agent builder. You feed it documents or website content, it trains an agent on them, and you embed that agent on a site or connect it to messaging apps. The company positions it for teams that need more than a website Q&A bot, because it adds a visual workflow builder, live chat handoff and a real-time voice API on top of the knowledge-base chatbot.

The homepage describes it as a way to build an AI agent from your documents or site content, then embed a chat widget or call it through an API. The homepage says its servers are in Switzerland.

What you build and how

The no-code builder page lays out four visual steps: upload, train, customize, deploy. In the upload step you add the content the chatbot should know. That can be PDFs, Word documents, plain text, website URLs and Q&A pairs, and the homepage FAQ adds .html files and pasted text. The page says no database or API setup is involved. In the train step you click train and the platform indexes your sources, so the chatbot answers from your content right away. You retrain whenever sources change.

The customize step is a visual editor for the chatbot name, colors, avatar, welcome message and suggested questions. You deploy by pasting a single embed snippet. The homepage describes two embedding options, an iframe or a chat bubble in the lower right corner of your website, and an API for talking to the agent from anywhere. The company says most users go from sign-up to a live chatbot in under 5 minutes.

The workflow side is what the company stresses against competitors. Its comparison page says "Chat Data's visual workflow builder lets you create complex automations, conditional logic, and multi-step processes," and suggests uses such as lead qualification, ticket routing and custom business logic. The homepage adds that you can build workflows with natural language prompts and trigger them as AI actions, combining AI flexibility in conversation with fixed procedures where you need repeatable steps. It also says the agent can respond with interactive UI elements, charts and dynamic components rather than plain markdown text.

Channels are covered by guided connection flows in the dashboard. The same chatbot you build for the website can be connected to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, LINE, Slack and Discord, with no code or webhook configuration. The comparison page says there are more than 10 platforms.

Live chat handoff is built in. When the bot can't resolve something, a person takes over in real time with the full transcript attached, and the company says no integration project is needed.

Two options suit technical users. If you run your own model, you can embed the chat widget and drive it from a backend URL you supply, which the FAQ says is encouraged because it reduces load on the company's own compute. And a REST API is listed in the comparison table, with an SDK demo and an API guide linked from the navigation. Agents are private by default and you can make one public to share. The company also mentions pre-trained Medical Chat models built with Chat Data. The site works with sources and questions in any language.

The evidence from the pages

The pricing facts the pages give are limited but specific. A free plan is available with no credit card. Paid plans start at $18.99 a month, for higher message limits, more training data and advanced features, and the builder page says all deployment channels are included in every plan. The comparison table lists the free plan at 100 messages a month, against 20 for Chatbase. The same table lists models as GPT-4, GPT-3.5, Claude and custom.

To stop repeat free sign-ups, the company says it uses a device fingerprint, so you can't open a second free account.

On compliance and data, the comparison page says Chat Data is HIPAA compliant, and elsewhere that a BAA is available for customers on the Standard plan or above. The homepage FAQ says servers are located in Switzerland, so user data is physically stored within Swiss borders on Oracle Cloud infrastructure, and file blobs are also stored in Switzerland using Azure Blob Storage. The navigation links a Trust Center, a research library with compliance documentation and an uptime status page. The same table lists white-label and advanced analytics.

The size claim is "Join 1,000+ businesses using Chat Data." That is the company's own statement. The comparison page was last updated May 27, 2026, and it is the company's own page, so its statements about Chatbase are claims rather than independent testing. It says Chatbase offers basic automation and no human handoff, and that Chat Data offers a 95+ language reach against 90+.

The comparison page also describes a migration path from other tools: export your knowledge base and chat history, then upload it to Chat Data to recreate the chatbot.

Who it suits and who it does not

Support and operations teams that want more than answers are the natural fit. If the bot has to qualify leads, route tickets or follow multi-step logic, the drag-and-drop workflow editor gets that done without a developer. Teams in healthcare can use the HIPAA statement and BAA as a starting point, though the BAA is limited to the Standard plan and above, so confirm the tier before you commit. Businesses reaching customers on several messaging apps benefit from having all deployment channels in every plan. Developers get a REST API, an SDK and a way to bring their own model backend.

A solo founder who only wants a simple widget on one website may find the workflow builder, voice API and channel list more than the job needs. The free plan is a good way to test, but at 100 messages a month it is for testing rather than for a busy site. For the tiers above the $18.99 starting price and their limits, use the company's pricing page.

It is a hosted service with a REST API and an SDK. A team that must run everything on its own servers should ask the company before committing.
