What Cowlendar is

Cowlendar is a booking app for Shopify stores. It is not a standalone site builder: it adds appointments, classes, experiences and rentals to a store you already run on Shopify. The company's line is "Make it bookable. Appointments, classes and rentals. In your Shopify store," and its footer calls it "Booking, made for Shopify." The reader it fits is a merchant, whether a founder with a first store or a small team, who wants to sell time, places or equipment next to products without moving to a different platform. The company says it was built by Marc and Charles and a small team. The pages do not give a headquarters location.

What you build and how

What you build is a set of bookable services that live in the store. The home page shows the idea with sample products named Kayak, Wine Tasting, Hairdresser and Car Rentals, and a booking widget where you "Pick the product you want to link the booking page" to, then offer a calendar of dates. The company says the app "turns your Shopify store into the place where it all gets booked," and it describes four flows to start from: appointments, experiences, rentals and classes.

The FAQ lists what it handles. If customers "need to reserve your time, a place or a resource," the app is meant for it, across appointments, classes, experiences, events, rentals and stays. It supports one-to-one and group bookings, multiday and full-day bookings, bundles and subscriptions. You set participant capacity, service duration and availability to fit the experience. Custom durations, deposits and prepayments are part of the feature set on every plan.

The site shows how that reads for different trades. Fitness and studio classes come with class capacity and waitlists. Salons and beauty services come with choosing a teammate and taking deposits. Photography comes with custom duration and prepayments. Workshops such as pottery and cooking come with participants and tickets. The company tells the story in three steps: "A time that works" for making availability bookable, "A booking that's yours" with "Your branding. Your questions. Your choice of deposits, prepayments and useful extras," and "Everyone in the loop," where team and calendars stay connected and reminders handle follow-up. A sample reminder on the page reads "See you tomorrow at 10:00!"

For teams and shared resources, the FAQ says you can add teammates, use a team portal and configure availability by equipment or resource, and customers can book a specific teammate. Booking limits and rules control capacity for each service. That matters for a rental shop or a studio with one room, where two customers must not get the same slot.

On the tools side, the home page lists calendar and video connections: Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. It also names Klaviyo, for marketing, and Shopify POS. The FAQ says the app supports multiple languages and handles time zones, and it suggests setting up services for the markets you sell to and previewing the customer experience before launch.

The pages describe no template gallery for designing pages, no code export and no use outside Shopify. SMS notifications are available, with their own usage pricing.

What the pages state

Pricing is by booking revenue, not by seat. The home page says "Choose your plan by booking volume." There is a Free plan at $0 USD a month, described as a way to "Try Cowlendar with real bookings." The FAQ adds that you can try all features on the free plan, and points to the pricing details for the booking allowance rather than stating one. Paid plans are named in the FAQ as Starter, which "supports up to $1,000 in booking revenue," Basic, up to $3,000, and Growth, up to $10,000. The monthly prices of those three tiers are not stated in the page text. Above them, the page lists Pro at $99.99 USD a month for up to $20,000 in booking revenue, Scale at $149.99 for up to $30,000, Business at $199.99 for up to $50,000, and Unlimited at $299.99 with unlimited booking revenue.

The terms are stated plainly. Prices are in USD and "Recurring charges are billed every 30 days." Paid plans have a 7 day free trial, "All features included," "Unlimited services" and live chat support. SMS usage and optional add-ons are priced separately, and the company tells you to check current pricing on Shopify.

Support is a selling point. The company says live chat in the app is available "24 hours a day, 7 days a week," and it offers to help you move from another booking app, noting that import options "depend on the information available from your current app."

The company shows a 4.9 out of 5 rating, based on 2,236 reviews on the Shopify App Store. One dated review reads "Incredibly user friendly app with an amazing team of staff on hand to offer support." The home page also says "Trusted by teams at brands you know," but the page text names none of them, so it is not a customer list.

The company also publishes a journal of comparisons. One guide sets Shopify with a booking app against Wix with Wix Bookings, Squarespace with Acuity, and WordPress with WooCommerce Bookings, and it is open about its angle: "Recommendations reflect our editorial judgment; we make Cowlendar." Its advice on cost is useful to any buyer: evaluate "the combined cost of Shopify, the booking app and payment processing." Other articles compare Cowlendar with Appointo and Sesami.

Who it suits and who it does not

Cowlendar suits a Shopify merchant who already has a store and wants to add a rental, a workshop, a tasting or a set of appointments without a platform migration. The company's own advice is that if the store already fits your commerce needs, you should test Shopify booking apps before taking on a migration. It also suits a small team that wants everything in one dashboard, from availability to payments to reminders.

It does not suit anyone who is not on Shopify, since the product is built for that platform and runs through the Shopify App Store. The revenue-based ladder is the main thing to model: a studio that grows into the Pro tier at $99.99 a month, plus SMS and add-ons, plus Shopify's own plan and payment fees, adds up to more than the plan price shown. And if you want a booking page that is independent of a store, a standalone scheduler is the simpler path.
