What it is
Bókun is a booking and channel management platform for tour operators, activity and experience providers, rental businesses, ground transport providers and destination organizations. Its home page calls it "the complete booking and channel management solution for extraordinary experiences." It is for operators who sell tickets, tours and rentals through several channels at once, and for resellers who sell other people's products. The company states that Viator and Bókun are both Tripadvisor companies, which it says makes integration easy. The pages do not give a headquarters location or a founding year.
What you build and how
What you build in Bókun is a sellable catalog and a way to reach customers. The company's pages describe four layers.
Products. An advanced product builder walks you through creating listings, setting availability and pricing, and assigning resources, and you can save templates to publish new listings more easily. Fields cover how a product is booked (reserving a time slot versus buying a day pass, for example), pricing and dynamic pricing rules, and inventory and supplies. Rental providers are told they can oversee inventory, link equipment to bookings and run mass closeouts for maintenance or cleaning. Ground transport providers can set pick-up and drop-off points and tailor pricing by location.
Your own website. This is where the "websites" side of the entry sits. Bókun says you can "build a website in minutes or drop a booking widget" into a site you already have, with no code needed. The site builder comes with plug-and-play templates. The company's comparison page says it requires "zero learning curve" and that most tour operators can build their site in under a few hours. It also says it covers the charges to secure your website name and bring the site online. The home page describes the tools as SEO-optimized.
Channels. This is the channel manager part. According to the home page, you can make your website bookable and reach 2,600+ resellers, including 70+ global OTAs, through the Bókun Marketplace. Availability syncs across all sales channels so you never double book, and you can set different rates for different channels and trigger mass closeouts. If you already sell on Viator, the company says you can import your Viator products with a click and get first bookings through Viator in five days. It also states that it charges 0% Bókun fees on Viator bookings. For resellers the Marketplace is the other direction: thousands of travel products, with supplier connections and partnerships.
Day-to-day admin. The home page groups the operating benefits under "Do less admin". Availability updates automatically, and you set prices, choose products and manage commissions for different sales channels in one place. Emails to guests are automated to save time. The pitch for the whole system is "Hello bookings. Bye-bye booking chaos", and the three promises beside the trial button are to start selling in minutes by importing Viator products, to generate more bookings by making the website bookable, and to never double book again because availability syncs across every channel. The page also asks how you "scale from ten bookings to ten thousand" and positions Bókun as the answer.
Selling and running the booking. At checkout you can sell add-ons and upsells. Customers can pay through secure payment links sent by email or text, and the company says the platform integrates with dozens of payment processors, naming Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Worldpay, Braintree, Raypd and Klarna. A native CRM keeps customer information and communications in the same system as bookings. Guests get automated emails, and a second confirmation goes out after a customer modifies a booking, with the calendar updating on its own. Notifications cover changes and cancellations. Mobile apps for iOS and Android keep staff up to date on new bookings and changes. A Zapier connection lets you link Bókun to the rest of your tools, and an app store offers extra modules such as a tip management tool and custom reporting.
What the pages state about plans and proof
The pages publish plan prices, which is unusual for this category. On its Checkfront comparison page, Bókun lists three tiers. START is $49 a month, PLUS is $149 a month and PREMIUM is $499 a month. Booking fees fall by tier, from 1.5% on START to 1.25% on PLUS and 1% on PREMIUM, with no Bókun booking fee on Viator reservations and free offline bookings. The company says START includes all of its core features, and that you can choose to absorb booking fees or pass them to customers at checkout. PLUS and PREMIUM are described as enterprise plans for teams that need more advanced functionality, such as agent portals, subvendor management and Zapier integrations. They include dedicated onboarding with the customer experience team, and enterprise users get a complimentary strategy call every year. A 14-day free trial needs no credit card.
On proof, the home page says "thousands of operators" use Bókun and that it is "the number one booking system across major OTAs", both company claims. Two case stories appear. Railbiking in Greece doubled its bookings within a year, and Venice Tours reports a 400% revenue increase through the Bókun Marketplace. The company describes its support team as award-winning, reachable by Live Chat ("real people, not robots") with a Help Center behind it. The pages do not state a compliance certification or a hosting region.
Who it suits
Bókun suits a tour, activity or attraction operator who wants direct bookings from a fast-built website and also wants Viator and other resellers fed from the same availability. A destination organization can use the Marketplace to connect local suppliers. A rental business gets inventory tracking and closeouts. A small operator with one experience can start on START at $49 a month. A reseller who wants a supply of ready-to-sell products can use the Marketplace as a source.
The caveats are straightforward. The product is built for travel and experiences, so a hairdresser or a clinic will find little that fits. The most obvious benefit, the Viator link, matters mostly if you sell or plan to sell through Viator. And the page that publishes prices is a comparison written by Bókun against a competitor, so read the live pricing page before you budget. Agent portals and subvendor management sit on the two higher plans.
