What It Is

WPForms is a drag and drop form builder that installs as a WordPress plugin. It builds contact forms, payment forms, survey forms, newsletter forms and registration forms, and it reaches further into quizzes, calculators, user registration and post submissions. It is aimed at site owners who would rather not hire a developer to get a working form, and the company says it was built "for non-technical users from day one." The footer names WPForms, LLC as the trademark holder.

The scale claims are the company's own. The homepage reads "Join 5,000,000+ Professionals Who Build Smarter Forms and Surveys with WPForms AI Form Builder," and its FAQ says "Over 6 million websites use WPForms Lite today." It also shows 13,513 reviews at a 4.8 average. For a reader choosing a form plugin, that is a large installed base, in the company's own reading of its reach.

What You Build and How

The editor. You build in a visual drag and drop editor where you add, remove and rearrange fields by hand. The company says you can create responsive WordPress forms in 5 minutes or less. Forms are "100% responsive," so they are meant to look right on phones, tablets and desktops without extra layout work. The field list runs from radio buttons to file uploads and multi-page forms, and the feature menu adds repeater fields, geolocation, digital signatures, PDF generation, save and resume, and form scheduling.

Templates. The homepage advertises 2,100+ form templates, from simple contact forms to multi-page applications, grouped by industry (healthcare, education, nonprofit, real estate, eCommerce, professional services), by use case (payment and order forms, registration, surveys and feedback, lead generation, applications, bookings) and by role. Starting from a template saves the blank-page step, and the company says you rarely need to start from scratch.

AI form builder. WPForms AI takes a plain English description, and the example on the site is "create a quote request form for a roofing company." The company says it generates a fully working form in about 60 seconds and handles field types, validation rules and layout automatically. AI can also fill individual dropdown lists, checkbox groups and multiple choice options. A July 2026 update, WPForms 2.0, added an analytics suite with a built-in AI chat that reads your form data and tells you what is hurting conversions.

Logic, calculations and notifications. Smart conditional logic lets you "personalize your forms based on the user's input," showing or hiding fields depending on earlier answers. The Calculations addon builds real-time calculators for price quotes, order totals, loan or BMI calculators, working with dropdowns, number fields, radio buttons and checkboxes. Email notifications go out through your WordPress site's mail system, and you can route different notifications based on form answers. The FAQ points to WP Mail SMTP for delivery through providers such as Gmail, Outlook, SendGrid, Amazon SES and Brevo, plus Slack notifications, SMS via Twilio and Google Sheets sync.

Payments. "Start accepting one-time and recurring credit card payments without the hassles of a shopping cart," the homepage says. WPForms integrates with Stripe, PayPal, Square and Authorize.net, with coupons and a payment dashboard. An August 2026 addon added Mercado Pago, with on-page card payments and installment plans in ARS, BRL, CLP, COP, MXN, PEN and UYU; that announcement says WPForms takes no transaction fee.

Surveys, quizzes and conversion tools. The Surveys and Polls addon covers NPS surveys and a new Ranking field that tallies a "Times at #1" count for each option. The conversion toolkit lists form landing pages, user journey reports, partial submissions, form abandonment, conversational forms, PPC lead forms and dynamic field population. A built-in QR code generator, included with every plan including Lite, gives each form a scannable code for menus, packaging or badges.

Workflows and entries. Forms can accept user-generated content, create new WordPress user registrations and route data. Entry Management shows leads, payments and form data in one place, and a new dashboard totals forms, entries, payments, views and spam across the site.

Integrations. The FAQ says WPForms "connects with 400+ tools," and names them by group: Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and Zoho CRM; Mailchimp, Constant Contact, AWeber, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, Campaign Monitor, Drip, GetResponse, MailerLite and Kit; Google Drive, Google Sheets, Dropbox, Airtable and Notion; Slack, Twilio and Google Calendar. These are described as native integrations that connect "through a simple toggle or API key." For anything else, it points to Zapier (10,000+ apps), Make and n8n. (Elsewhere on the same page the company writes "over 9,000+ integrations.")

Where the form goes. WPForms works with every major page builder, and the company names Elementor, Divi and the native WordPress block editor. There is no separate hosting step because the form lives on your WordPress site as a plugin, and the FAQ says all submission data "is stored in your own WordPress database, never on third-party servers."

Leaving Contact Form 7. The company publishes an alternatives article for Contact Form 7 users and points to a walkthrough on importing Contact Form 7 forms into WPForms. That matters if you inherit a site full of older forms.

What the Pages Say

Free and paid. "WPForms Lite is 100% free and includes the drag-and-drop builder, pre-built templates, email notifications, and spam protection." The company adds "No credit card required, no trial period, no feature lockout on a timer." So the free plan is a real plan, not a trial. Paid plans start at $49.50/year, and every plan includes a 14-day money-back guarantee. Pro and Elite are named as paid plans in the QR code announcement; the full tier split sits on the Plans and Pricing page.

Security and spam. The homepage carries GDPR Compliant, PCI Compliant and CCPA Compliant badges, and the FAQ says WPForms "is GDPR and CCPA compliant out of the box" and that payment transactions are processed with PCI-compliant security. Spam protection combines Google reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, Cloudflare Turnstile and Akismet filtering with the company's own anti-spam engine. The Form Locker addon can password-protect forms, restrict them to logged-in members or set submission limits.

Customer comments on the homepage. One verified customer, Nir A., says "I install WPForms on every website I have." Another, Raelynn J., says "Drag and drop feature without having to write tedious code. Really simple to implement." A third, M3l1, says "I've used WPForms for years on several different websites and it's worked really well." These are testimonials the company chose to show.

Support. The site links documentation, developer resources, a Facebook group for community support and a support team the company describes as WordPress experts.

Who It Suits

A small business owner, blogger or solo freelancer with a WordPress site is the clear fit. If the job is a contact form, a quote request, a registration form or a short survey, the editor, the 2,100+ templates and the AI builder get you to a published form quickly, and the free Lite version lets you try the builder before paying. Marketing teams get the most from the conversion tools and CRM connections, and nonprofits and small shops from the payment gateways.

The caveats are about scope. WPForms is a form plugin, not an app builder: it collects, calculates and routes submissions, but it will not replace a full application platform. And because it is a WordPress plugin, a site that is not on WordPress gains nothing from it.
