What Self is

Self is an AI-powered resume-to-website platform. You give it a resume, CV or portfolio and it builds a hosted career page from that material, which you then edit and publish. Its tagline is "Turning resumes into websites. Simple, beautiful, instant." The reader it serves is a job seeker, freelancer or creative who wants a link to share instead of a PDF, plus the career coaches, recruiters, agencies and schools its Team plan names. The footer says Self is a product by Samblas Studios OÜ and gives no location.

What you build and how

Starting from what you have. The front page works in 3 steps: upload, let the AI build the page, then publish. You can add text, files or both, and the page says to upload "whatever you have," whether that is a PDF, an image, text or a rough draft. The stated limits are up to 5 files at 10 MB each, in PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG or TXT, with text of up to 200,000 characters in total. There is also an option to import from LinkedIn. Self can generate a page in under a minute if your resume is ready, and you can see a preview without creating an account. You only sign in when you want to publish.

The result. The AI organizes the material into professional sections, so you spend your time on the story rather than on building the containers. The Carrd comparison page puts it this way: Self "starts with a career website you can refine." You review it, sharpen the introduction and add the projects you want a recruiter or client to explore. The FAQ says Self is built for traditional CVs and for more visual portfolios, and that project sections support images, MP4 videos, YouTube links and supporting media.

AI editing. The page lists "Make any change with one prompt" as a feature, and the FAQ says Pro includes AI chat edits. The company is direct about the limits of the AI: it structures and improves your page, but you should review the result before publishing and edit or remove anything inaccurate, incomplete or not like you.

Templates. Templates are filterable by style, such as Classic and Creative, and each can be previewed with a live example. The gallery shows 12 templates, each marked Free or Pro. The company says a team of UI/UX experts created them. The Carrd page describes Charcoal as a restrained, confident presentation for career details and Gallery as the one that makes visual work the focal point. A blog post dated September 22, 2026 announces 3 new templates, Colorfield, Gallery and Dossier.

Publishing. You claim a free personal subdomain, you.self.cv. Paid users can connect a domain they own, such as yourname.com, and Self guides them through the DNS records, verification, SSL and routing. After publishing you can keep editing, switch templates and republish.

Analytics and sharing. Paid plans show when people visit, how they find the page, which devices and locations they come from, and how much of the resume they read, including scroll depth. After publishing you can also create share promo cards: digital cards and QR business cards for LinkedIn, messages, applications and social posts.

Autofill for job applications. A Chrome extension fills job application forms from your Self page. You choose the page, open an application and click Autofill. It matches your information to supported empty fields and can write concise answers using the role context. It never overwrites answers you already entered and never submits the application for you.

The evidence from the pages

Plans. The pricing section shows a monthly and yearly toggle, with a "-50%" label on yearly. Free is CHF 0 a month with no billing required. The company's FAQ describes Free as one hosted page at your own you.self.cv address, free templates, full control over your content, share cards, a daily Autofill allowance, and a required "Powered by Self" badge. Free pages are published with search indexing disabled.

Pro. Pro includes all templates, full design control, custom typography and colors, a custom domain, metadata and footer customization, full SEO controls, analytics, AI chat edits, higher Autofill limits, and removal of the badge. The plan text states no Pro price in figures.

Team. Team is for career coaches, recruiters, agencies, schools and teams that manage multiple pages or client profiles from one account. It also offers custom domains.

Downgrading. If you go from Pro back to Free, your published page can stay live, because Free also includes one hosted page. The badge returns, search indexing is disabled and any custom domain is disconnected. Premium template, color and metadata choices stay on that page, but the paid controls are locked for new changes.

Ownership. The FAQ says you keep ownership of your content, the page is public only after you publish, and you can edit, unpublish or delete it whenever you want.

A claim from the company. The front page says there is "an 80%+ chance hiring managers will click the link you provide." It is the company's statement and carries a source link on the page.

Not on the pages. No compliance certification, user count or code export is stated.

Who it suits and who it does not

Self suits someone who already has a resume or portfolio and wants a polished page fast. It is a good fit for an applicant who wants a shareable link, a coach who builds pages for clients on the Team plan, or a creative who wants video and image projects next to the CV. The job-application Autofill is a practical extra if you apply to many roles.

The free plan is real but limited. It publishes one page, requires the "Powered by Self" badge and keeps search engines out. Search visibility, a custom domain and analytics are paid features.

The caveats follow from the focus. Self is built around a career page. The pages describe no store, blog or multi-page business site, so a small business that needs one should pick a general site builder. The Carrd comparison itself says Carrd suits a person who wants to assemble the page by hand, and Self leaves less of the layout to you. And because Self builds from material you supply, the review step matters: check every date and detail before you publish.
