What Chatfuel is

Chatfuel is a chatbot and AI agent platform for messaging. Its templates page describes the company as the team behind "the AI agent platform for WhatsApp and Instagram used by agencies and businesses to answer, qualify and book over chat." Its FAQ calls it "a super simple, lightweight tool built for WhatsApp/Instagram-first businesses" that combines client messaging, booking, follow-ups and automation in one place. The reader it targets is twofold: a small business that wants its own chat assistant, and a marketing agency that wants to run chat funnels for many clients.

What you build and how

The product is organized around channels. The help center lists guides for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and a website chat widget, plus the topics around them: getting started, an AI layer called Fuely AI, leads and live chat, calendar and bookings, a product catalog, payments, integrations, plans and billing, team accounts and a section for agencies.

On Instagram, the help center says you connect your account and automate DMs, comment replies, reels and story replies. The Business plan adds that you can reply to post comments and to Reels comments automatically. On WhatsApp, you connect a number, verify your Meta business, send templates and broadcasts, and fix delivery problems. The WhatsApp page calls Chatfuel a Meta-approved tech provider with the latest official version of the WhatsApp Business API built in. On Facebook you automate Messenger conversations, post comments, m.me links and ads, and on TikTok you automate comment replies and direct messages. The chat widget for a website has its own icon and welcome message settings.

The assistant side is Fuely AI. The help center says it answers customers, and a section of 43 articles covers how Automations are organized and every setting you can tune. Lead handling is part of the plan: the Business plan lists "Qualify and score leads automatically." Conversations land in an inbox where, according to the help center, you can assign chats to teammates, use a Kanban board and get notified about new leads. The pricing FAQ confirms that your team can handle live conversations and follow up when automation needs a human.

Booking and selling are built in. Fuely AI can book appointments, sync Google Calendar and send reminders. A catalog lets you upload products and services so the AI can recommend them with photos and prices, and a payments section covers accepting payments inside the conversation. The Business plan lists "Sell products and services right in the chat," "Book meetings in WhatsApp automatically" and "Send bulk WhatsApp campaigns."

For building, the pricing FAQ says you do not need technical skills, you can launch with templates and build flows visually, and most teams can publish a first automation in minutes. The templates page offers ready-made funnels for agencies, framed as 5 moves: Pitch, Close, Connect, Tune and Prove. The last step is automated reports, which the page says prove the ROI to a client. The older website page shows a Messenger-era CRM and survey features, including a chatbot that asks for feedback right after a purchase.

Integrations are modest in the way the pricing FAQ describes them: "tools like Google Sheets, Zapier, Stripe and Chatfuel API," with a JSON API documented in 3 help articles. The home page claims "136 CRMs natively," naming HubSpot and Salesforce. The business plan can sync WhatsApp conversions to Meta Pixel and show which ad campaigns and funnels drive sales. The Business plan also lists "Sync WhatsApp with your CRM." For agencies, a banner on the pricing page announces a new Chatfuel SDK, described as a way to "launch your own white-label chatbot platform for your agency." The site itself is offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

What the pages say

Chatfuel publishes prices. The pricing page lists a Business plan at US$18 per month, billed yearly at US$216 a year, with US$20 of AI credits each month. An Agency S plan costs US$90 per month, billed yearly at US$1,080 a year, with US$100 of AI credits each month, 3 companies, bulk pricing, an agency management dashboard, a dedicated account manager and early access to new features. The page shows a yearly toggle marked "-10%". Every plan starts with a free trial, the sign-up button says "No credit card required," and you can cancel a paid plan at any time from billing settings. The FAQ explains that annual billing lowers the monthly equivalent price and is paid for the year. The plans are trials into paid tiers rather than a free plan. It also says "Usage limits apply," points to a separate plan limits page, and says that if usage grows beyond the plan limits the company will help you choose the right setup. On contacts, the FAQ says you can keep your customer base in Chatfuel and manage contacts from one workspace.

An older WhatsApp landing page quotes different numbers: a Business plan "from $69" and an Enterprise plan "from $400" with a tailored plan, priority support and a dedicated bot-builder specialist. The two pages disagree; the pricing page itself lists the US$18 and US$90 plans.

The company says it is "Trusted by 150,000+ businesses" and describes itself as an "Official Meta Partner" and "WhatsApp Business Solution Provider." On the agency side, the home page cites results from marketers running its funnels: 8000 leads per month, US$2-5 per insurance lead and 370 trained digital marketers, all presented by the vendor, and it says its recommendations are "Based on 25k+ clients across countries and industries." Its comparison table claims 60 minutes from start to live against 5-15 days for others, and says agency support is included. The help center has 9 articles on security and privacy, which cover "which regulations it complies with," and the site footer links to a GDPR page.

Help center size gives a sense of depth. WhatsApp has 37 articles, Instagram 12, Facebook 7, TikTok 7 and the agency section 38.

Who it suits and who it does not

Chatfuel suits a small business whose customers already message it on WhatsApp or Instagram and who wants one assistant answering, booking and taking payment. It suits an agency even more. The Agency S plan, the templates and the automated reporting are aimed at people who resell chat automation to clients, and the home page says the markup is yours.

It is less of a fit for a team that wants a general no-code builder. Chatfuel builds conversations, not apps, sites or databases. 2 caveats apply. The Agency S plan covers 3 companies, so a larger agency moves onto the bulk pricing the plan mentions. And the AI credits are a monthly allowance, so a team expecting heavy AI traffic should read the plan limits before committing.
