What it is

InetSoft makes StyleBI, a business intelligence platform for building interactive dashboards and reports. Its homepage headline calls it "Open source Serverless BI that flexes like your cloud," and describes "agile, small-footprint business intelligence powered by data transformation pipeline and visualization microservices." The company, InetSoft Technology Corp., sells to 2 audiences with one product family: business users who build and explore dashboards through a visual interface, and technical teams who manage data models, integrations and deployment behind them.

It appears in this directory under dashboards and BI, and also under open-source low-code because one of its 3 editions, StyleBI Open Source, is described on the homepage as "InetSoft's core Web App, open sourced." The company's guide pages say InetSoft was rated #1 for user adoption in G2's user survey-based index.

What you build and how

The homepage walks through the product in 4 steps.

Prepare data. You "rapidly transform and integrate disparate data visually using data pipelines," and can apply formulas and scripts for finer manipulation. The navigation names the capability "Data Pipelines" and describes it as "modularized, fully visible data transformation."

Visualize it. Visual analytics and reporting are delivered through interactive dashboards with rich visual components and interactive elements. The homepage says built-in self-service capabilities let users explore data for deeper insights, and that dashboards can also be delivered as paginated reports. In StyleBI the interactive dashboards are called viewsheets, assembled from charts, gauges, selection boxes and other elements. The company's dashboard-creator guide adds that each dashboard element has multiple forms, so the same dashboard can be given very different looks, and that a viewer can monitor, explore, analyze and drill down into details.

Speed it up. You can transform the data behind a visualization into a high-performance cache, with scheduled or on-demand incremental cache updates, all under administrator control.

Run it in your cloud. The "Elastic Cloud DevOps" step says you can manage, orchestrate and scale BI as microservices within your own cloud platform, and embed it in your cloud applications with single sign-on and Web Components. The navigation describes the architecture as cloud native and platform neutral.

The dashboard-creator guide describes the editing experience for non-technical users: a drag-and-drop interface that lets people build dashboards without scripting, while power users get advanced options. It says most users can build a basic dashboard in minutes, and that dashboards with complex data models may take longer. For technical users it points to semantic modeling, data mashup and governed metrics. Its FAQ also mentions AI-assisted exploration with automated structure suggestions and smart recommendations to help users build dashboards more efficiently, and another guide says InetSoft can bring AI-assisted insights and predictive models into dashboards.

Further building blocks appear in the guides. Data mashup lets business users blend data from multiple sources into one view without extensive ETL work, and the InetSoft Scorecard lists KPIs against goals, quotas and target trends, records what action to take when a goal is missed, and raises exception alerts for the associated KPI. The guide's list of key capabilities also covers interactive filtering, drill-down and drill-through, and real-time monitoring and alerts. Collaboration is governed, with workflow approvals, version history and shared dashboard libraries.

On data sources, the guide says InetSoft connects natively to Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, SQL Server, Oracle and REST APIs, reuses transformations already defined in those warehouses, and offers REST and SOAP APIs for integration with enterprise applications and workflow engines. It says real-time dashboards are supported, either through frequent scheduled refreshes or live connections.

For sharing and embedding, the guide says dashboards can be shared through links, embedded in applications, or exported to formats such as PDF or images. Its embedded analytics section says dashboards can go inside portals, SaaS products and customer-facing applications, and that multi-tenant embedding is supported for SaaS providers and large enterprises, with full security controls. The enterprise requirements it lists include row-level security, SSO and SAML authentication, audit trails, version control and encryption standards, and it states that InetSoft includes all of these. For identity, it names Azure AD, Okta, Ping Identity and custom SAML configurations. It also says the architecture is built to scale horizontally and support thousands of concurrent users, and that deployment can be cloud, on-premises or hybrid.

The 3 editions are named on the homepage navigation:

  • StyleBI Cloud: an online app or dedicated instances.
  • StyleBI Enterprise: a highly scalable platform with rich enterprise features.
  • StyleBI Open Source: the core web app, open sourced.

The evidence from the pages

Pricing: the site has Pricing, Contact Sales and Start Free links, and the company's guide lists "predictable pricing" among InetSoft's strengths. No plan amounts or user limits appear on these pages.

Open source: the homepage names StyleBI Open Source and gives it a community area for discussion and issue reporting, plus a "Contributor Rewards" program described as a "giveback members recognition program."

Compliance: the guide's compliance section says the architecture "supports SOC 2-aligned security practices for enterprise deployments," that deployments can be placed in specific regions or environments for data residency, and that TLS encryption in transit and secure storage options are supported. These are alignment statements in the company's words, not a named audit report.

Support and learning: the site lists documentation for all StyleBI products, official step-by-step tutorial videos, a knowledge base, and a Customer Portal for commercial product documentation and support. A live visualization gallery lets visitors look at sample output, and the guides offer a demo request.

Positioning: the company describes InetSoft as a balanced choice for enterprises that need governance, scalability and embedded analytics, and lists "less brand recognition than mega-vendors" as its own weakness.

Who it suits and who it does not

InetSoft suits an IT team or software vendor that wants to embed dashboards in a portal or SaaS product, run multi-tenant analytics, and choose where it is deployed, whether in its own cloud as microservices, on-premises or hybrid. The open-source edition gives a developer a way to try the core web app, and the cloud and enterprise editions give a buyer a path to a managed or more scalable setup. A business team with an analyst can use the drag-and-drop editor and data mashup while the analyst handles pipelines, scripts and semantic models.

It suits less well a solo founder who wants a dashboard from a spreadsheet in an afternoon, since the product is organized around pipelines, semantic models and governance, and no price list is published. It is a BI platform, not an app builder, so forms and workflow automation sit outside what it does.
