What it is
Datapad is an AI data agent that works as a chat-first alternative to a dashboard tool. You connect your data, ask questions in plain English, and it answers with charts, written findings and dashboards. The homepage headline is "Your Entire Data Team. In One AI Agent," and it describes the product as "One platform that replaces your entire data stack." It is aimed at founders, marketers and business teams who do not have an analyst; one testimonial on the site comes from a startup founder who "couldn't afford a full data team." The FAQ says "No technical skills required!" The footer says it is made in San Francisco, and the homepage claims "500+ teams getting 5x better ROI than generic AI tools."
What you build and how
The homepage lists the building blocks of the product, and each is a way of building something without writing code.
AI Data Agent. "Talk to your data like a human analyst. Get instant answers with charts and visualizations." This is the main editor, and it is a conversation, with no canvas and no query builder in the way. The FAQ says the assistant "can write SQL queries, execute Python code, blend data from multiple sources, create visualizations, and generate actionable insights," and that it learns from your workspace context and remembers your preferences. The Learning Layer is described as personalized AI that learns from users, data sources and workspace context, and a testimonial adds that it "remembers our business context, preferred metrics, and even our team's terminology." The Scale plan adds an "Auto-Learning Agent." A Multi-Model AI feature lets the agent use Claude, ChatGPT and other models, and Web Access brings in real-time web data for market analysis.
Dashboards. "AI creates custom dashboards tailored to your business needs automatically." You describe what you want to track and the agent assembles the dashboard, which the homepage frames as interactive dashboards for self-service business intelligence and real-time KPI insights. Datapad's own blog adds detail on the editing side: you can "Choose from a gallery of pre-designed templates and apply them with 1-click," and you can build a custom dashboard and reuse it as a template by swapping its data sources. Connected data sources are shared across the workspace, so a teammate can build on what you already connected, and the blog mentions read-only links for sharing performance reports and comments on KPI cards.
Text2SQL & Python. "Convert natural language questions into executable code and database queries." The logic layer is generated code that you do not have to write: the agent switches between SQL for data extraction and Python for modeling, so the output is not limited to a fixed chart type.
Integrations and data blending. The FAQ says Datapad "supports connections to 50+ different data sources including databases, marketing platforms, social media, sales tools, and APIs," and that "The number of sources you can connect depends on your plan." It names databases such as SQL, BigQuery and Snowflake, and marketing platforms such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads; the onboarding step asks you to link Google Ads, Analytics, a CRM and social platforms. A separate block claims Datapad "integrates with 200+ tools and platforms you already use." Data Blending combines sources for cross-platform analysis, shown on the page as a 4-step flow: fetch from Google Analytics, fetch from Google Ads, blend the data, generate insights.
Automation and delivery. You can "schedule automated report generation and set up alerts for anomalies or important changes." Refresh behavior depends on the integration and the plan, with many sources able to refresh "in real-time or on custom schedules." Shareable Reports produce reports and dashboards for stakeholders, the Slack Bot delivers insights and alerts in your team's channel, and Voice Mode presents insights through voice. Team features include multiple users per workspace and shared reports, dashboards and insights, and the blog adds that you can assign team members tasks, goals and metrics.
AI Workflows. Datapad pushes past reporting with "50+ ready-to-use AI workflows," also called recipes, that turn data into deliverables: ad campaigns, blog posts, email sequences, product descriptions and sales scripts. A Cross-Channel Marketing ROI Analysis recipe is the example shown. The homepage promises "implementation-ready campaigns, SEO content, and optimization strategies" and "Copy-paste ready deliverables." Other named use cases are exploratory analysis, Excel data cleaning (normalizing fields, removing duplicates, detecting outliers), predictive analytics and feature engineering, KPI tracking with benchmarking alerts, and processing of clinical, scientific and financial research datasets.
Plans and pricing
The homepage publishes 4 plans, with a monthly price and a lower annual price shown side by side:
- Basic: $30 a month, or $15 on annual billing. 1 user, unlimited messages, unlimited file uploads and 1 data source, not including databases.
- Pro: $50 per user a month, or $25 on annual billing. Unlimited messages, file uploads and dashboards, and 10 data sources, not including databases.
- Scale: $1000 per workspace a month, or $500 on annual billing, marked "Most popular." Unlimited messages, file uploads, dashboards and data sources, including databases, plus priority support, workflow and automation, the Slack bot and the auto-learning agent.
- Enterprise: custom pricing, via a contact form.
Each paid tier carries a "Start Free" button and the page offers "Try for Free," without describing the length of a free period. A banner on the pricing block says "Save as much as 20% with annual billing," while the listed annual prices are half the monthly ones.
Two details matter for planning. Database connections are a Scale-only feature, which means a team whose data sits in Postgres or a warehouse cannot use the cheaper tiers. And the pricing model changes shape as you grow: Basic is one person, Pro charges per user, and Scale charges per workspace.
On security, the FAQ says "Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we maintain strict access controls. We never share your data with third parties, and you maintain full control over your data at all times." Questions go through a contact form, which leads to a personalized demo.
Who it suits and who it does not
Datapad suits a founder or small business team that wants to ask questions of its data instead of building dashboards by hand. A marketer with ads, social and sales data across several tools can connect them, ask for a weekly report, have it scheduled, and run a recipe that turns the numbers into a campaign draft. An operations lead can use the Pro plan to share dashboards with a small team. The Basic plan at $30 a month, or $15 on annual billing, is a cheap way for one person to try the conversational approach.
It is a weaker fit for a team that wants to design exact charts by hand, since the model is "AI creates custom dashboards" rather than a drag-and-drop canvas. A company with its data in a database needs the Scale plan at $1000 a month, which is a large step up from Pro for a small team.
