What it is

Astrato is a warehouse-native BI platform for building interactive dashboards, embedded analytics and data apps. It runs natively inside Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or other cloud data warehouses, executing queries and logic directly where your data lives rather than extracting data into a separate layer. The platform includes Nash, an agentic BI assistant that builds governed semantic models and dashboards from plain-language descriptions. It is designed for 3 use cases: data apps and workflows that write back to your warehouse, embedded analytics for white-labeling inside a SaaS product, and guided self-service analytics for business users exploring data.

What you build and how

Warehouse-native architecture. Astrato executes all analytics directly inside your data warehouse. Dashboards, self-service analytics and AI-powered insights run live on Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks. There is no data extraction, no reload cycles, no cached data layers creating freshness lag or data accuracy issues. The distinction matters: warehouse-connected tools still extract data into their own layer, but warehouse-native tools treat your data warehouse as the execution engine. Data stays in your control and governance boundary.

AI and semantic layer. Nash, the agentic BI assistant, builds governed semantic models and dashboards in plain language. Describe what you want to see and the assistant builds the dashboard on live queries. Astrato's blog says its AI assistant does not hallucinate metric definitions because it draws from the governed semantic layer rather than guessing from raw data. The semantic layer is built in, not added after the fact, and serves as the source of truth for metric definitions across dashboards and business users. The platform includes over 70 out-of-the-box chart types.

Data apps and workflows. Build apps that write back to your warehouse. Users can update records, approve budgets, adjust forecasts, submit forms, or trigger automated workflows directly inside a dashboard, with every change writing back to the warehouse in real time. Action Blocks let you build multi-step workflow logic without code. Input forecasts and edit records directly in the dashboard, with the home page describing real-time warehouse sync.

Embedded analytics for SaaS. White-label entire dashboards to look exactly like your product. Customize fonts, colors, layouts and components without writing CSS; dashboards embedded inside your product look like part of your product, not like a third-party BI tool. Multi-tenant isolation, JWT and SSO authentication, and row-level security are built in. The home page describes pixel-perfect, white-labeled dashboards embedded with a single iframe, multi-tenant by design and fully interactive, with automated reporting built in.

Self-service for business users. The interface is designed for the entire organization, not just the data team. Non-technical users can explore data using a point-and-click interface, natural language AI queries grounded in the semantic layer, and interactive dashboards, without SQL knowledge or technical proficiency. Action Blocks let non-technical teams build workflow logic visually without scripting.

Scheduled reporting. Generate fully branded, automated Excel, PDF or PowerPoint reports and share them via email or Slack channels.

Deployment and compliance. The home page security section lists GDPR Ready, HIPAA Compliant, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and Google Cloud Ready BigQuery badges. The home page says it runs on Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or any other data warehouse, and scales from 50 to 5,000 users using your warehouse's compute and caching.

Pricing and support. Usage-based pricing with no per-user wall. 3 tiers (Creator, Explorer and Viewer) cover the spectrum from data builders to embedded end-customers. Pricing scales with actual deployment and usage rather than per-seat licensing, and the company positions it as saving 50-75% versus legacy BI tools. For SaaS teams building embedded analytics, warehouse-native architecture removes data extraction overhead and simplifies the security model since customer data stays in their own warehouse boundary, never leaves to live in a third-party analytics layer.

The evidence

The pricing model is the clearest claim. The company's blog describes "usage-based pricing with no per-user wall," and the home page promises "flexible pricing (per-user, usage, or hybrid)" with "no hidden fees" and savings of 50-75% versus legacy BI. The pages publish no dollar amounts, so budget by asking for a quote. The blog adds that white-labeling is included at every tier rather than reserved for a higher plan.

The home page carries 3 customer quotes. A data analytics manager at PeerMusic says Astrato replaced manual Excel files with a financial tool that has input tables, dynamic calculations, reporting and workflow for user assignment and permissions. The co-founder and CEO of Impensa says the team went from design to a fully operational SaaS platform within 60 days on Snowflake. A director at PetScreening reports that active users grew by 155% with a 55% monthly return rate. These are customer statements on the vendor's own page, not independent measurements.

On the technical side, the site names Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks, and describes a "native semantic layer" with 70+ out-of-the-box charts. It lists scheduled Excel, PDF or PPT reports sent to email or Slack. For security it shows GDPR Ready, HIPAA Compliant, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and Google Cloud Ready badges, and the home page also says SOC 2 Certified and GDPR Compliant. Embedded use carries multi-tenant isolation, JWT and SSO authentication and row-level security, according to the company's blog. A trial is offered through the Start trial button, and a demo can be booked.

Who it suits and who it does not

Astrato suits a data team that already keeps its numbers in a cloud warehouse and wants dashboards, internal operational apps and customer-facing analytics on top of that one source without copying data into another layer. A SaaS company that needs embedded dashboards matching its own look, an operations team that wants approvals and forecast inputs written back to the warehouse, and a business-intelligence lead who wants a governed semantic layer all fit the pitch.

It is less of a match for a solo founder with no warehouse, since everything here assumes Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or a similar one. The site publishes no dollar prices, so a small team cannot budget from them. Astrato is also a BI and data app tool rather than a general app builder, so a public marketing site or consumer mobile app is outside what its pages describe.
