Nintex

Nintex is a process automation platform. The company's own FAQ defines it as a platform "that helps businesses eliminate manual work and streamline workflows", and its newest packaging, Nintex Automation CE, puts workflow, forms, apps, documents, orchestration and AI agents in a single environment. The audience is IT leaders and business teams in organizations that want governed automation across departments rather than one-off scripts, and the home page says Nintex is "Trusted by 7,000+ companies worldwide." The site is offered in English, German and French.
What you build and how
The home page describes the unified platform as "Orchestrate. Optimize. Outperform." Nintex Automation CE is the product that "brings workflow, forms, apps, documents, orchestration, and AI agents together", and the company says it gives teams "a governed way to package, deploy, and scale complete automation across every department". The home page calls CE a unified multi-tenant cloud platform. The pieces you build with are these.
Workflows. The core of the product. The FAQ lists everyday workflows that departments automate: employee onboarding in HR, purchase requests in finance and case management in customer service, with approvals, routing and data entry as the repetitive tasks to remove. The site also shows use cases for loan processing, where forms, workflows, process mapping and document generation are named together, for quote-to-cash, for contract finalization, for KYC checks and for remote education services.
Process mapping. Nintex Process Manager is the mapping and documentation side. Verified reviewers on the home page say their organization uses Nintex to map business processes and improve them, and that it is "great for process documentation" because it reduces risk as staff leave and join.
Forms and apps. Forms and application development are separate menu entries, and the reviews quoted on the home page give a feel for them. One reviewer says Nintex Forms and the Workflow Designer have very user-friendly interfaces. A reviewer from a company of 10,001+ employees says Nintex suits their SharePoint lists with a more user-friendly intake form that looks professional. Another, from a company of 1001-5000 employees, says they have forms for every use case from internal audit to HR to IT and pull lookup values into Nintex cloud forms from Azure tables. A reviewer who uses Nintex Apps as a UI overlay in Salesforce reports significantly better user adoption from highly customizable views and actions, and says that "what would normally take 10 clicks using Salesforce can be done in one click with Nintex."
Salesforce. The Salesforce edition is called Nintex for Salesforce, and the site describes it as a way to "build delightful customer experiences, automate workflows, and generate documents, all within Salesforce, and all without coding". A customer quote names Nintex DocGen for Salesforce as the tool behind a teacher recruitment process.
Microsoft. A separate entry promises to "maximize the power of your Microsoft tools with no-code advanced workflows and process intelligence," and several reviews describe Nintex as workflow automation for SharePoint.
Documents. Document Automation has its own entry, and document generation appears in the loan processing use case and in the financial services pitch, which promises audit-ready documentation generated automatically for exams and regulatory reporting.
RPA. Robotic Process Automation is a named product area, and the product behind it is Nintex RPA Bot, which a menu line pitches as "Let Nintex bots handle all your repetitive tasks." A verified reviewer from a company of 501-1000 employees says "we love using the software for building bots and automating various processes" and that it saved hundreds of hours every day. That is the reason Nintex also sits in the RPA category here.
AI agents. The company calls itself an "Agentic Business Orchestration platform", meaning it uses AI to coordinate people, systems and agents. The home page says AI agents "build, run, and refine workflows for you in real time" under human oversight, and its manufacturing pitch has agents spotting quality variances and forecasting equipment maintenance. The FAQ says Nintex AI uses machine learning to identify patterns in your processes, flag inefficiencies and suggest ways to improve performance. The company also points to the Gartner category business orchestration and automation technologies (BOAT) with an eBook, "An early adopter's guide to BOAT".
Templates. The home page offers ready-made templates "available to use right out of the box," and says CE lets you build faster with AI-assisted creation or pre-built templates from the Nintex Gallery.
Solutions and lifecycle. Nintex Solutions is a newer idea in CE: your team can package related automation assets into one governed container with built-in application lifecycle management, "so solutions move from development to production in one step". The home page says every solution is tracked, versioned and deployed this way, replacing manual, asset-by-asset coordination.
Hosting choices
Two editions matter for hosting. Nintex Automation CE is the unified cloud platform. Nintex Automation K2 is listed under a "Self-Hosted" heading and described as "powerful, low code process automation" in self-hosted software, with a product line promising on-premises automation "with full control and data sovereignty." The latest K2 release shown on the home page, 5.9.1, includes built-in on-premises AI capabilities and other enhancements "for organizations in regulated environments". A customer quote from Norfolk County Council also names Nintex Automation K2 Cloud.
Integrations
The FAQ says Nintex "connects with a wide range of systems, both in the cloud and on-premises", and names Microsoft 365, Salesforce, SAP "or something custom". The industry pages add examples: ERP, MES and logistics systems in manufacturing, and CRM, core banking and compliance systems in financial services. Nintex for Salesforce is the one integration with its own product.
What the pages state
The site publishes no prices. The header carries Trials and Demos links, the footer lists free trials, and a contact prompt asks whether you are curious about "features, a free trial, how to get in touch". The site invites you to request a personalized live demo that is "tailored to your needs, challenges, and goals". A global partner network is offered for projects that need outside skills, and support runs through a support portal, a community and help documentation.
Customer claims on the home page include a team that says departments it never heard from before now ask "Can you help us build this?" as word of mouth spreads. The home page frames the platform around governance: it speaks of keeping "governance and security in your control" for IT leaders, and of "governed workflows and audit trails" for public sector teams, where it names permitting, licensing, grant management and case tracking. The CFO page covers streamlining financial processes "from invoice approvals to audit trails". The manufacturing page is titled "From siloed to synchronized" and mentions audit trails for ISO and regulatory reporting, and the public sector page lists the outcome as "Faster services, stronger oversight, and greater public confidence". Reviews on the home page come from verified users on TrustRadius and G2, each labeled with a company size.
Who it suits and who it does not
Nintex fits an IT or operations organization that needs to standardize process automation for many departments. The mix of workflows, forms, apps, documents, process maps and RPA in one environment suits a team that would otherwise buy these separately, and the self-hosted K2 edition with on-premises AI is relevant where data cannot leave the company's infrastructure. Teams already on Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Salesforce or SAP will find those named as supported systems, and Salesforce users get a dedicated product.
It is a weaker fit for a freelancer or a small company that wants to publish a website or a customer-facing app, because the site describes internal business automation sold through trials and demos rather than a self-serve price list. Because Nintex sells several products and editions (CE, K2, the Salesforce version, Process Manager and RPA Bot), a new buyer has to work out which one covers the use case before a demo.
