What it is
Flotiq is an API-first headless CMS for digital projects, aimed at two readers at once. The company says "a headless CMS should serve both developers and content editors," so Flotiq gives developers control over the stack and gives editors "a clear, user-friendly environment to create, update, and publish content." The homepage headline speaks to the editor: "Create, collaborate, and publish. Without the guesswork." It says the product adapts to "launching a personal website, building a mobile app, or powering an enterprise system." It suits freelancers, agencies and product teams that want content in an API and a decent editing screen for the people who write it, and it scales up to enterprise projects with dedicated or on-premise deployments.
What you build and how
You build a content model, then whatever sits in front of it. In Flotiq's builder you define content types with fields, metadata, relationships, geolocation and versioning, and the company says these are "all instantly available via API." Flotiq generates RESTful endpoints for each content type, "complete with OpenAPI docs and multi-language SDKs," plus JSON-ready APIs and an optional GraphQL API whose scope the company itself calls more restricted than its REST side. A Postman API sandbox, an SDK generator, a built-in full-text Search API and a demo space with sample content help a developer get going.
The homepage lists the kinds of projects it is built for, "company websites, blogs, and e-commerce platforms to mobile applications, internal tools, documentation portals, and content-driven apps," and adds multilingual websites, multimedia asset management and knowledge bases. A site, a store catalog or a documentation portal is treated as content in an API, with the frontend left to you. Flotiq forms let you "create any kind of form with a few simple steps," and the company frames the separation of content from presentation as the route to content reuse and omnichannel delivery to websites, mobile apps and smart devices.
For the Next.js reader, Flotiq offers official starters, Draft Mode support and live preview plugins, and the Live Preview plugin shows changes on the frontend right away. TypeScript teams get "native type sync directly from your schema": the company says CMS schemas sync to your codebase automatically, so there is no separate generation step, and the Flotiq SDK and API package let you install the types and fetch content in one step. The company advises keeping a read-only API key in environment variables when connecting.
For editors, the product lists a clean UI with markdown or WYSIWYG editing, basic and custom roles, field-level permissions, and a drafts and publishing flow. The homepage highlights a Draft and Public mode that manages the status visibility of content objects, Version History with easy restore, Favorites as workflow shortcuts, In-Place Relation Editing, and a Content governance feature that lets editors be "as flexible about your content model as you want, without asking the developers for help." Publication Scheduling, introduced in an August 2025 post, lets a team plan posts weeks in advance instead of publishing at midnight by hand. An asset library stores all images in one place.
Marketing tools sit inside the editor. A Surfer SEO plugin handles content optimization, and a Google Search Console integration lets you check whether your content is indexed from inside the editor. Multilingual content is covered with translation management across languages and instant translations powered by DeepL.
Extending the platform is done through a plugin framework. The company describes a unified framework for UI extensions, hosted code hooks and both synchronous and asynchronous webhooks, all inside the platform, and says custom UI components get first-class plugin support. Teams can also separate environments by spaces, and the developer tooling includes a management CLI for on-prem deployments, content and settings import and export tools, and a management SDK. The footer links Plugins, Integrations, Starters, a Changelog and the documentation.
To try the product, the homepage suggests starting with a template. You register and open a ready-to-use project, with "no setup, no stress," to see how a content model works, then play with plugins, explore content pipelines, edit and publish content, and call the API to see real structured responses.
What the end user sees depends entirely on your frontend. Flotiq stores and delivers content over the API; the starters give you a working site to adapt.
Pricing, deployment and customers
The company's blog states a free-forever tier "ideal for hobby projects or prototyping at no cost." For production, it recommends the Basic plan, "starting at $39/month (or $37/month billed annually)," which adds daily backups with 30-day retention, audit logs and role-based permissions, with a restore feature in the interface. The homepage buttons read Start free trial and Book a demo, and the company says clearly published tiers let businesses forecast expenses.
Reliability claims come from the company. One post says "Flotiq guarantees 99.9% uptime on all paid tiers and 99.99% uptime on Growth and above, without requiring an enterprise contract," which also names Growth as a higher tier. It describes support tiers that "start at modest price points" and transparent SLAs.
On hosting, Flotiq lists shared multi-tenant SaaS, dedicated single-tenant instances, and fully on-premise or private cloud installations, which the company says are there "to meet strict compliance, data residency, and infrastructure requirements."
The homepage names three customer stories. ULTRASOUNDsGOOD is a medical training mobile app built by CodeWave for the Mocni na Starcie Foundation with Flotiq as the core CMS. Credit Agricole Bank Polska moved its intranet from WordPress to Flotiq, which the company says reduced errors, improved UX and boosted responsiveness by 340%. Japan Tobacco International launched a store locator powered by Flotiq "to improve customer experience, streamline data management, and deliver a scalable, secure solution with unified data access."
Beyond the product, there is a partner network of certified development agencies vetted by Flotiq, a Partner Program with training, pre-sales support and co-marketing, a Discord community, an FAQ, the docs and a support center.
Who it suits and who it does not
Flotiq suits a developer or small agency that wants generated REST APIs, OpenAPI docs and typed schemas, plus a free tier to start and a $39 plan when the site goes live. It fits Next.js teams that want starters and live preview, and enterprises that need a dedicated, on-prem or private-cloud deployment. Editors get drafts, scheduling, version history and field-level permissions, which is enough structure for a small content team, and marketers get SEO and Search Console checks without leaving the editor.
It is a weaker match for a team whose stack is built around GraphQL, since the company says its GraphQL API is the more limited of the two. A marketer who wants a drag-and-drop site builder with hosting included will need a developer, because Flotiq delivers content to a frontend that someone has to build or adapt from a starter.
