What the product is

ApiBanana is a no-code API builder for business teams. You point it at a database, an ERP or a legacy system, and it exposes that data as a secured REST API with generated documentation. The company describes it as API management for business: the readers it names are business analysts, operations teams, product managers, small businesses and IT teams who want an API without hiring developers or running servers. The homepage carries a "Now in Public Beta" badge, and the contact section lists live chat hours in CET.

What you build and how

The product is one workflow, repeated for each API, and the site describes it in 4 steps.

First you connect a data source. The homepage lists MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB and SOAP/XML, and the FAQ adds REST services and CSV or Excel files, with the note that new connectors arrive every month. The use-case page promises you can connect databases, ERPs, files and services "in clicks".

Second you define endpoints in a visual drag-and-drop builder. The homepage says you create GET, POST, PUT and DELETE endpoints, map fields, add filters and set pagination. The use-case page frames the same step as auto-generating endpoints with full CRUD operations. Nothing in this step asks for code, and the FAQ answers the question directly: ApiBanana is "designed for both technical and non-technical users".

Third you configure security on one screen. The pages name API key authentication, OAuth 2.0, JWT, rate limiting, CORS and IP whitelisting. Which of those you get depends on the plan: Starter is API key only, Growth adds OAuth 2.0 and JWT, and Business adds custom auth and SSO.

Fourth you deploy. The company says the API goes live on its global edge network with no infrastructure setup, and that your first API can be live in under 5 minutes. Every API gets OpenAPI 3.0 (Swagger) documentation that is always up to date, and you can share it as a public or private link, so partners can onboard themselves. The homepage shows the same sample call in cURL, JavaScript, Python and PHP, using a bearer token in the Authorization header.

The legacy angle is the one the company leans on hardest. Asked whether ApiBanana can connect an ERP or legacy system, the FAQ answers: "Yes. That's actually one of our specialties." It says the product can expose legacy ERPs (SAP, Navision, custom systems, XML-based) as modern REST APIs without touching the core system, using its connector and data transformation engine. One testimonial on the homepage, from Marta Ruiz, CTO at LogiChain, says the team turned a 15-year-old ERP into a clean REST API in an afternoon, work that had been quoted as a 3-month project. That is a customer quote on the company's own page, not a measured benchmark.

The use cases the site lists are specific: business analysts creating APIs for reporting dashboards, operations teams exposing internal data to partners, product managers prototyping new integrations, small businesses building APIs without developers, and IT teams creating internal tools and automations. The Business plan lists "advanced data transforms." The product is best read as a layer that exposes and secures data, not one that builds application logic.

The evidence from the pages

Pricing is published, in 3 plans, with annual billing shown at a saving of about 17 percent.

Starter is free, described as "Perfect to explore ApiBanana and build your first API." It includes 10,000 API calls a month, up to 3 endpoints, 1 data source, API key auth and automatic documentation. Webhooks and priority support are marked as not included. The site says the Starter plan "is always free" and that no credit card is required.

Growth is $29 a month, or $290 billed yearly. It includes 500,000 API calls a month, up to 10 endpoints, 3 data sources, OAuth 2.0 and JWT, webhooks and events, and an analytics dashboard. The SLA and priority support are marked as not included.

Business is $99 a month, or $990 billed yearly. It includes unlimited API calls, endpoints and data sources, custom auth and SSO, advanced data transforms, a 99.9% uptime SLA, and priority and dedicated support.

Across plans the site states you can cancel anytime with no penalties, upgrade or downgrade instantly, and that the infrastructure is SOC 2 compliant. All plans include "enterprise-grade security (AES-256, 2FA, TLS 1.3)". The FAQ spells the security model out: TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest for stored credentials, 2FA (TOTP), CSRF protection, Content Security Policy headers, brute-force protection, session hardening and audit logging, with third-party database credentials encrypted and never stored in plain text. It also mentions automatic data retention policies.

On scale, the homepage says "Join 500+ companies" and repeats the claim near the testimonials. Quotes from 2 more customers come from a founder at Segmentr, who says ApiBanana handles auth, docs and rate limiting, and from the head of integrations at Payflow, who says the generated OpenAPI docs saved weeks and partners now onboard themselves.

Support runs through email, live chat on weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00 CET, and a 30-minute personalized demo you can book. The contact form says replies typically arrive within 2 hours. The site is offered in English and Spanish.

Who it suits and who it does not

ApiBanana fits an operations team or a small business that already holds valuable data in a database or an older system and needs partners, dashboards or other tools to read it through a clean API. It also suits a product manager who wants to prototype an integration without waiting on engineering, since the free tier lets you try the whole flow before paying. IT teams with an aging ERP are the audience the FAQ speaks to most directly.

The limits are plain. The Starter plan allows just 3 endpoints and 1 data source, so even a modest project moves to Growth quickly, and webhooks start at Growth. The product is labeled a public beta. Deployment runs on the company's own edge network, which removes server work but also means the API lives on ApiBanana's infrastructure. And if you want to build application logic, forms or user interfaces, this is not that kind of builder: it is a way to publish and protect an API over data you already have.
